India and South Africa battled each other in the World T20 Cricket competition 2nd semi-final at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on Friday 4 April 2014.
The 1st semi-final took place on Thursday 3 5 April 2014 between Sri Lanka and West Indies, with Sri Lanka winning and advancing to the final.
The match started at 15:00 SA Time.

I’m positive that we can pull back some wins over the next few rounds.
It won’t be enough to make the top 6, but then, it’s not like we thought we are top material.
We should finish up mid table at least, and for that to happen, we need about 6 wins from the last 10 odd games, very doable with the derbies and home games

As I listened to the commentary in the car, I got more and more frustrated. Our bowling is still lacking in both departments, and as good as Parnell can be, and has the potential to be, he does seem to get a little flustered, and we effectively lost the match in the over that he conceded 17 runs. He has done well over the last couple of years to control his aggressive frustration, but still needs to do more before he can come into serious contention. But I don’t blame him, whoever bowled that over was going to be carted, and it was unlucky it was him.
For me the frustration came in the field placement. That was a defensive pattern that would have put the Stormers and AC to shame! It was obviously a well worked out tactic to starve the Indians of boundaries, but not once did the Proteas put any pressure onto the batsmen. Not even when Yuvraj came in did they bring in anyone to stop the singles. And my frustration comes in the fact that Faf had obviously been told to play that tactic (he is normally a much more aggressive player), and not to veer from the plan under any circumstances. Was this a Domingo plan? If so it wasn’t that well thought out. No plan ‘B’ and no flexibility.
We effectively gave them 120 runs in singles today, Kohli and his entourage just had to get the odd 4 and 6 to make up the rest of the score, and no bowlers are going to be able to bowl 120 balls in the right spot to stop the odd boundary.
No, that match was far too easy for the Indians. There was never any pressure placed on them after SA posted a very good 172.
I think the Indians would still have won – and deservedly so, they are the best at T20 atm – but I blame the captain and management for handing it to them on a plate.
There are some good players in our team, and with another world class bowler and a better all-rounder (Albie is never going to cut it) and a more solid opening partnership, we will become a formidable T20 side.
RSA would do well in any cricket tournament if you dont put these two words to its name “World Cup”.
They just wilt at the thought.
