Macbull, all this talk of mutual respect is rubbish.
They hate each others guts, Davy Warner will not be braiing at Fafs joint tonight.

  • 392

GBS, great site but if you don’t understand the local dialect your readership will be pretty narrow.

    394 @ superBul:
Re-building is an attitude more than it is recovering from losing a Kallis and a Graeme Smith….

One could see the Australians were aggressive and all gee’ed up… they wanted to win and was prepared to do what was necessary to achieve the goal.

In Domingo I do not see a chap who can make that a habbit at the Proteas.

One can say whatever one wants about Biff Smith… about how grand his batting average was ect, ect… but the fact is he ALWAYS had a serious flaw early on in his batting innings, seemingly getting better only once he got “IN”, where he then stood tall and made big scores. However, how many times did he perish early, by edging it to slips or cutting it onto his stumps… a real fatal flaw.

I am not sad to see Biff depart… never got to like the chap, notwithstanding how he was revered by all and sundry.

To me his batting was flawed and his personality too congenial and soft-cockish!

What to do, who to pick… who to coach? Well I don’t have those answers.

    395 @ NZINCHINA:
China… we have 11 Official Languages in SA… and I will not dictate to people that they may only comment in English.

South Africa is a “live and let live” country… or at least that is what we are aspiring to and what Rugby-Talk embodies.

Mostly though, when we converse in Afrikaans and someone who only understands English pitches up, we always swing over to English to accomodate (unless that person is out to get our goat with his comments).

My home Language is NOT ENGLISH, yet you will find that 95% of Articles on R-T aew in English, my 2nd Language.

When you address me and MOST here, we will accomodate and converse with you in English.

South Africa is unique in the world and we quite like that diversity… whilst still being proud of our respective herritages.

Bear with us when we speak Afrikaans, it is a reality of our society in South Africa.

    @ NZINCHINA:
I take note and i will always try to talk with you. We are true Rugby and Cricket lovers and i love to practice my English. I am certainly not good with the language and in every sentence i have to correct quite a few words.
    Glad to have you here.

Well done to the Aussies… They were the better team and outplayed the Proteas for at least 4 of the 5 days.

At least the Proteas fought till the end..so kudo’s for them for the effort… pity that they could not hold out for Biff in his last test.

Hard times ahead…there is no-one on the horizon to replace Kallis and Biff…

    @ grootblousmile:

China’s not got much to say in any language.

  • 401

    @ robzim:

    Indeed.

I see a slide down the rankings ahead.

  • 402

Now to see whether Bafana Bafana can make up for this 🙂

  • 404

    402 @ robzim:
Flok, when are they playing and who will they be playing?

  • 405

    @ grootblousmile:

They are playing Brazil at the moment in Jhb in a friendly.

    Brazil 1-0 after 30 minutes.

  • 406

    405 @ robzim:
    Oh, OK.. shit it’s 2 / 0 now!

Did Brazil bring a strong side over?

    Their strongest possible line up
It’s their last game before their WC squad gets picked. And the last chance they have against African opposition before the 1st round

  • 410

    @ grootblousmile:

Yes… its a full strenght team… they are using it as preparation for the World Cup.

The bloke who scored just now (Neymar) is for example one of the top players for Barcelona FC.

  • 411

    410 @ robzim:
I suppose then Bafana Bafana is lucky to be only 2 goals down at the moment.

Full strength Spain or Germany who were really serious would probably be further ahead.
Kahuna, the better goalie not playing, but Brazil is more similar to the African sides than the more structured European sides, they are like the AB’s or NZ franchises, thrill the crowd with total fancy pants moves and dribbles etc., while ze Germans Tommy, more like a well oiled machine. Germany always my favorite WC team, ever since Beckenbauer.

  • 414

    Ha ha, Khune, not Kuana
Spell check thinks he is big in Hawaii

  • 415

    @ grootblousmile:

Brazil is ranked number 9 in the world and South Africa probably about 70th so there is a huge difference in quality.

It’s not always so straight forward though as the players in the top teams often just go through the motions when they play against lesser teams in friendlies due to the risks on injuries.

  • 416

    415 @ robzim:
Yeah, I agree, there is no way Brazil will be super-amped to beat Bafana Bafana… it’s like a practice match for them, holding the ball, hogging the ball and just getting their players to gel.

  • 418

Nee jinne mense, ek kan dit nie geniet om te kyk hoe die blinde skool se se ouens opgevoeter word deur die groot outjies nie.

Dis ook nie my sport nie… ek gaan maar eerder Dynamo Magician Impossible kyk

  • 419

Oh well .. 5-0 to Brazil… and despite what the SA commentators are saying this is an ordinary Brazil team only playing at about 3/4’s pace.

SA’a soccer is rock bottom at moment… Ingesmund is probably on his way out… who is next??

  • 420

    419 @ robzim:
Ingesund is not the problem… SA soccer’s problems lie much deeper and it’s become ingrained now in the SA Soccer’s whole being.

In 1996 we were still Arfican Champs…. something like No 23 in the world…. now we’re sitting beyond No 70 (I heard we are at No 86 in world terms). The slip has been fast and exponential.
