Carizza has a back injury while Burger is struggling with his groin.

Coach Allister Coetzee is pessimistic that Carizza could recover in time, but is unsure of Burger.

“Schalk injured his groin. We’ll only be able to say how serious it is by tomorrow (Monday).”

Coetzee described his side’s performance as an “embarrassment”.

“We were as bad as the Lions were good. We conceded turnover possession on 10 occasions while in the Lions’ 22 and gave away possession 25 times overall.”

Friday’s clash at Newlands kicks off at 19:10.

One Response to Super Rugby: Stormers injuries to Shalla & Carizza after horror loss to Lions

The Stormers have failed to evolve since making the 2010 Super Rugby final, for reasons that have been detailed at length in this column over the past four seasons. After the 25-17 defeat to the Bulls in Soweto, coach Allister Coetzee promised that the Stormers would improve their kicking game and attack before the 2011 season. It’s a promise he has continued to make in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Let’s just say that Coetzee won’t be remembered in Cape rugby circles as ‘Mr Delivery’.
