Bryan Habana (France) and Gerhard van den Heever (Ireland) have left to play overseas, and with Cheslin Kolbe and Juan de Jongh sidelined with knee injuries, the Stormers are in need of a quality backline player to fill the void, especially at wing.

Anderson, at 1.90m and 103kg, clearly fits the bill for what coach Allister Coetzee wants.

He currently plays for Japanese club, Kobelco Steelers, who also have Peter Grant, Andries Bekker and Jaque Fourie on their books.

Anderson, 29, first made a name for himself in Rugby League, playing for the Brisbane Broncos and Cronulla Sharks.

He was born in Auckland, New Zealand, but is of Tongan ancestry and was in their squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.
