Howzit my Shark brudda. What you think of our game for Saturday? Pleased we kept the same team as I like momentum in the early rounds. Just that we have no real clue about the Canes. Just hope we come away with a win, don’t care if we pick up the bonus point just need to win it.

I think that the cricket, similar to the rugby, they won’t deviate too far from the contracted players. Bear in mind, many of those that have contracts are for the 20 over or 1 day teams only.
I wouldn’t expect too much change in the test squad

The new contracts run from May 1 to April 30 next year.

CSA contracted squad: Graeme Smith (Cape Cobras), AB de Villiers (Titans), Hashim Amla (Dolphins), Marchant de Lange (Titans), JP Duminy (Cape Cobras), Faf du Plessis (Titans), Dean Elgar (Chevrolet Knights), Imran Tahir (Highveld Lions), Colin Ingram (Warriors), Jacques Kallis (Cape Cobras), Rory Kleinveldt (Cape Cobras), Ryan McLaren (Knights), Morne Morkel (Titans), Wayne Parnell (Warriors), Alviro Petersen (Highveld Lions), Robin Peterson (Cape Cobras), Aaron Phangiso (Highveld Lions), Vernon Philander (Cape Cobras), Dale Steyn (Cape Cobras), Thami Tsolekile (Highveld Lions), Lonwabo Tsotsobe (Dolphins).

Good recovery so far by Dean and Faf.

    Yes, I thought as much!
Suggesting that you hurt your knee by stumbling over your favorite Lambie teddy bear, disgusting if you asked me, very disrespectful… Disapproval

    66 @ Scrumsaam:

hahahaha. Probably I do. Though it is important to win your home games, bonus point or not. So hoping for a win. One point will be enough for me. Just have to win. The kiwi sides are always dangerous so never know what to expect. There are some great players in this Canes side. Sharks defence has to be 100s for this game. Will be another hot and humid game. Hoping that might get to them… 🙂 Not sure when they arrived in SA as they never played last week so might have come early so the travel might not affect them either.

Ja I will get Ben when he logs on… Devilish

I read on Graham Joffe’s website that Tsolikile hadn’t been awarded a new contract when they were announced recently.

    Did he get it wrong?

The Canes suck and the Sharks rock……..come to think of it, all the other teams suck and only the Sharks rock.
All other fly halves suck and Lambie rocks
Sheryl Calder, John Smit, Jake White and Bissie rocks….everyone else sucks

You should win easily against the Hurricanes, they won’t be a serious challenge and will definitely not be in the running for top 6
Sharks by 15 plus, even with Jannie in the side

    73 @ Pietman:
    Bwahahaha.

I really enjoy watching Prime Ministers Questions from the UK House of Commons. Those okes are sharp.

Could you imagine our esteemed Prez in a pressure cooker situation like that? Old Butternutkop (as a “previously disadvantaged” engineer who works for one of my client caals our Prez) would have a coronary in 60 seconds.

  • 78

    @ nortierd:
Good points from both of you. I think it’s time to make a few of the older, settled players play for their places – drop them and give some of the youngsters a start.

Sharks_Forever – would you have AB or De Kock as your keeper?

  • 79

    47 @ Puma:
Yes Puma can never forget his triple century a few years ago at the Oval when SA hammered England, we need him to be back at his best, always a conundrum when you have such a star player how long do you leave them in the team while they underperforming?

  • 80

    @ Puma:
Yes kiwi’s sides are always dangerous, Hurricanes got quality backs but i think the Sharks & MR White will target their forwards for this game typical SA rugby.

My bad, how embarrassing, posted the 2013 squad, you are 100% correct
    Here is the correct squad

CSA contracted players: Hashim Amla (Cape Cobras), Quinton de Kock (Highveld Lions), AB de Villiers (Titans), JP Duminy (Cape Cobras), Faf du Plessis (Titans), Imran Tahir (Highveld Lions), Rory Kleinveldt (Cape Cobras), Ryan McLaren (Knights), David Miller (Dolphins), Morne Morkel (Titans), Wayne Parnell (Warriors), Alviro Petersen (Highveld Lions), Robin Peterson (Cape Cobras), Vernon Philander (Cape Cobras), Graeme Smith (Cape Cobras), Dale Steyn (Cape Cobras), Lonwabo Tsotsobe (Highveld Lions)

    South Africa 64 / 2 after 27 overs (Lunch Day 1)

  • 83

From Sportsfire.co.za re the current test.

    “Will Smith be next?

I just get the feeling Graeme Smith is going to call it a day on his test career after this series against Australia.

Smith has been fairly outspoken of late and the latest was his “dig” at CSA management for announcing the contracted list of players before the 2nd test against Australia, starting today in Port Elizabeth.

    Smith quoted as saying:

“ It’s another curve ball that’s tough to deal with but we just have to find a way.”

And I have to agree with him.

No contracts for Dean Elgar and Thami Tsolekile, who are both in the current squad and Elgar is playing in this test.

Contracts for Quinton de Kock and David Miller, who many believe should have been in the current test squad.

So, CSA have got their timing wrong and it’s almost as if they are admitting the test selections were wrong as well.”

Cricket has become SA’s big political ball and it will only get worse and worse.

Rugby will be next, mark my words, and remember that does not only count for players but in all parts of the game.
