The South African leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series, was held at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth, takes place on 7 and 8 December 2013.
The tournament was played in emotionally charged circumstances after the death of beloved South African and world statesman, Nelson Mandela, who passed away in the night of 5 December 2013.
In these circumstances the open question was whether South Africa’s Blitzbokke could go one better than the previous tournament when they were beaten in the final by Fiji.

Blitzbokke 31 / 0 Argentina
From cricinfo : News: Cricket South Africa (CSA) has conveyed to the Indian team that it wishes to advance the two-day tour game in Benoni to Friday and Saturday so that it doesn’t clash with former president Nelson Mandela’s funeral on Sunday. Saturday was originally supposed to be the first day of the match. It now awaits a no-objection nod from India before finalising the rescheduling. If India agree, they will now get a one-day break between the final ODI and the tour game.”

Ok thanks that’s good to hear didn’t see it so wasn’t sure if they were pushed hard by Samoa or whether they were just cruising with the final in mind

Hello JFK how are you doing?
Think it’s a fitting final between the Blitzbokke and New Zealand…
Dale Steyn takes the 9th wicket… clean bowled
Canada 0/12 Scotland in the Shield so far
Latest Heineken Cup scores – Toulouse 5/6 Connacht, Leicester 24/18 Montpellier – that should be a good game to watch
Tsotsie cleans the last Indian up… Blomme win comfortably by 134 runs
Current score is Scotland 19 / 5 Canada, in the Shield Final
Canada’s Phil Mack scores under the sticks
Scotland 19 / 12 Canada
Only 7 points in it now
Scotland takes the Shield, 19 / 12
Colony against mother country as Australia now does battle against England in the Bowl Final
1st Blood to the colony
So that was a bit close in the end, at least we win something, I know you probably get more points for the log by progressing further in say the plate or bowl but do wonder if its better to at least win something like the shield than end up losing semi-finalist or even losing finalist in those competitions, at least there is the feel good factor of lifting a trophy especially if you are ending low down on the points table anyway. Or is there more at stake to say be ending 8th rather than 12th at end of season – possibly bigger financial reward or preferrential draw for upcoming tournaments, Commonwealth games etc?
Mother country bounces back for one of their own.
Australia 7 / 7 England

Australia 14 / 7 England (Halftime)

Aussie score again… and pull away again
Australia 19 / 14 England
Mitchell scores for England… level, kick to come.
England 21 / 19 Australia
