Williams, 43, recently returned to South Africa after a successful period in Romania where he coached Timisoara to the Romanian national title. Last year they won the title for the first time in 40 years and successfully defended it again this year.

Williams was hoping to become Romania’s national coach, but with Welshman Lynn Howells contracted until the 2015 Rugby World Cup, Williams decided to head back home.

“I coached Timisoara for two years and took them to being the strongest team in the country,” he said.

“I couldn’t really grow any further as a coach there.”

Williams said he’s still unsure what the future holds, but he is hoping it would be in South Africa.

“I’ll coach anywhere in South Africa,” he said.

Williams previously coached the Springbok Sevens side, the Cats (Super Rugby), Pumas (Mpumalanga), Uganda and Tunisia.

He played 27 Tests for South Africa between 1993 and 2000.
