Centre Michael van der Spuy could feature in midfield for Western Province when they tackle the Sharks in a Currie Cup encounter in Durban on Saturday.
Juan de Jongh is struggling with a hamstring injury and according to backline coach Robbie Fleck his chances of being declared fit is “50-50”.

Fleck said Van der Spuy would play in midfield alongside Damien de Allende should De Jongh fail in his bid to be fit for the top-of-the-log clash.
Springbok skipper Jean de Villiers would stay on the bench. Fleck said the plan is to give De Villiers a “physical and psychological breather”.
Kick-off at Kings Park is at 19:10 on Saturday.
This is a merely a thinly veiled attempt by the WP brains trust (which is an oxymoron) to sow doubt in the Shark’s camp in the hope that they will change their strategy surrounding de Jongh’s unavailability… an old Ian Mac tactic that may have worked in the 1990’s but hardly now.
I cannot see why JdeV needs a “physical and psychological breather”. he played no more a physical game than his colleague Vermeulen and as he is not the captain why a psychological rest???
