As we approach the final of the Currie Cup this weekend, all is not well in the Sharks camp.
There is the possibility that Bismarck du Plessis will miss the final due to a citing for stamping and in addition there is a couple of injuries to key players, which does not make things any easier.
Springbok and Sharks hooker Bismarck Du Plessis is likely to miss the final against Western Province this coming weekend due to the fact that he has been cited for stamping on Free State Cheetahs flank Lappies Labuschagné. A date for the hearing is still to be set.
There is also no clarity on the availability as yet on Willem Alberts and Jean Deysel. Alberts who is battling a neck injury, sustained in the last Springbok match and Deysel who came off the field with an injury against the Free State Cheetahs this past weekend.
Jannie du Plessis and Tendai Mtawarira have both already missed the semi-final and it does seem likely that they will play no part in the final either.
The Sharks should have clarity regarding injuries later today. Losing these players a week before a final could still turn out to be problematic as the Western Province scrum has been in good form this Currie Cup season.
ouch, people sweating over this one
I received the Sharks fitness report via E-Mail.
Seems that Kyle Cooper, Willem Alberts, Beast Mtawarira will all be fit for the final.
Final assessments will be made tomorrow on Jannie du Plessis & Jean Deysel.
In more Sharks news, it is reported that Bismarck du Plessis’ hearing for stamping (after he was cited) was today but that judgement in the hearing has been postponed till tomorrow.
