The Rugby Chamionship match between the Australian Wallabies and Argentinian Pumas is was a strange old battle to basically decide who was not going to receive the wooden spoon in the competition, a clash with it’s own merits and demerits. Neither team had won in the competition for the year and were desperate to pick up the first win and the game went right down to the wire.
This was a must win clash for the Wallabies at home and they manged that, however it was not as pretty as they would have hoped it to be. The Pumas had their best chance of winning this clash, with the Wallabies under pressure and out of form.
The Wallabies led at halftime by 14 / 3 and it seemed that they could easily take this one but a good fight back by the Pumas left the game poised with a 1-point defeat for the Pumas and a scoreless second half for the Wallabies. It now seems likely that this clash would go Argentina’s favour, when these sides meet again in Argentina. The last atch between these 2 sides will also be the final decider on who will end last in the competition.
There is no clear stand-out players as both teams played relatively good rugby in a game that went down to the wire. So, pointing out specific players would be unfair, as everyone on the field gave their best under the circumstances.
Overall
6 Out of 10 / 6 Out of 10
The Wallabies receive a 6 / 10 as they did come away with their first victory in this year’s Rugby Championship, however it was not pretty yet there was an improvement over recent weeks.
The Pumas also receive a 6 / 10 as they gave the Wallabies a good run for their money and came close to their first victory in The Rugby Championship. It was a good team performance.
