The Springboks face potentially more French referee heartache with the realisation that Jérôme Garcès has been appointed to take charge of their next Rugby Championship match against Australia at Newlands on Saturday, September 28.
Kick-off is at 17:00.

Garcès was one of the assistant referees in the Boks’ controversial defeat to the All Blacks in Auckland on Saturday.
Garcès combined with referee and compatriot Romain Poite, who baffled the Boks with a series and dumbfounding decisions – and drew the ire of former Springbok coach Nick Mallett.
The Boks, currently second – and four points adrift of the All Blacks – in the standings, face a likely must-win clash against the Wallabies in a fortnight, but will have to overcome the influence of yet another northern hemisphere referee in Garcès.
South Africa’s Jaco Peyper will referee the Argentina v All Blacks match in La Plata later that day.
To make matters worse for the Boks, their final match against the All Blacks at Ellis Park on Saturday, October 5 – which could well decide the destiny of the title – will be handled by Wales’ Nigel Owens, who himself had a poor outing with the whistle in Saturday’s Australia v Argentina clash in Perth.
It remains to be seen whether the IRB intervenes and alters either of the appointments…
Ag nee wat. Ek gaan dan nie eers die game kyk nie. Sal maar eerder net later kom kyk wat die score was.
Hope he is better than Poite was in our last game.
He was a lot better than Poite was in June when he was ref for our game against Samoa. All we can do now is hope he has a good game and is fair to both teams when we play the Wallabies.
I do think after the fiasco in Auckland, the Refs will make sure this time to ask the tmo exactly what they need to know or LOOK up at the big screen.
