Pat McCabe is looking to make a return to Super Rugby next year and get back on the test radar.
After re-fracturing his C1 vertebra in June and the second time since November last year he has been cleared to start running and will most likely join the Brumbies in their pre-season training.
In an interview conducted by the Sydney Morning Herald McCabe said,
”In the past three or four years I’ve kind of just being doing enough to get myself ready and pre-season has been interrupted by injury or Wallabies,”
”This time I’ll be ready to go. The surgeons and specialists have told him his neck will be stronger this time.
”My goal is to just try to play well for the Brumbies … I haven’t spoken to [Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie], so I will just do what I can for the Brumbies and see what happens.”
The first injury occurred during the Wallabies end of year tour in 2012 and the second during the British and Irish Lions tour in June.
His comeback into the Brumbies and Wallabies sides will not be a easy task, as in his absence Christian Lealiifano has become a regular feature for both the Brumbies and Wallabies at inside center. Christian Lealiifano also played a massive role in the Brumbies success in this years Super 15.
McCabe will first need to find a place back in the Brumbies starting line-up before he can start focusing on a return to the Wallaby side.
