The Sharks have made numerous changes to their team to face the Cheetahs as they continue with their rotation policy.
One of the changes will see Marcel Coetzee start for the Sharks at number 6. He was release from Springbok duty and will want to prove himself.
In other changes we see Butch James drop to the bench and Fred Zeilinga will start at number 10.
Tim Whitehead is also moved to outside center to accommodate Heimar Williams at inside center, a move that also sees Louis Ludik getting a well deserved rest.
Ndungane also returns from injury and retake his place in the number 14 jersey.
Keegan Daniel will also slot back to his regular number 8 spot and retake the captaincy from Jacques Botes.
The Sharks: 15 SP Marais, 14 Odwa Ndungane, 13 Tim Whitehead, 12 Heimar Williams, 11 Lwazi Mvovo, 10 Fred Zeilinga, 9 Charl McLeod, 8 Keegan Daniel (captain), 7 Tera Mtembu, 6 Marcell Coetzee, 5 Pieter-Steph du Toit, 4 Peet Marais, 3 Wiehahn Herbst, 2 Kyle Cooper, 1 Dale Chadwick.
Replacements: 16 Monde Hadebe, 17 Rayno Gerber, 18 Edwin Hewitt, 19 Brynard Stander, 20 Cobus Reinach, 21 Butch James, 22 Jaco van Tonder.
Zelinga, yes.
I am rather concerned with the loose forwards. No big ball carriers and the line out jumpers will be compromised> I have known Brynard Stander since U13 and although he has pace he lacks a bit in the physicality department he is 100% trier but this is not good enough at this level.
The Sharks will have to play “clever” rugby and turn the Free State pack and wear them down with attrition. This is a key match for both teams; a win here will go a long way to securing a home semi
