Clyde Rathbone has accused Jake White of ‘always chasing the next opportunity’ and says he is ‘perplexed’ by his decision to quit the Brumbies.
Writing in a column for The Roar website, the Brumbies back said he received a text message while on a run about White’s decision to quit.
Rathbone goes on to talk about his relationship with White, which goes back to their time together with the Baby Boks in 2002, and what makes him such a good coach. But he then turns his attention to White’s weaknesses and his reasons for leaving the Canberra-based side.
‘I’ve come to know Jake as a highly strung, emotional and complex individual who can get bogged down and consumed by irrelevant issues and peripheral details,’ writes Rathbone. ‘For all Jake’s success, he appears unsatisfied, always chasing the next opportunity.
If I remember correctly, John Smit and Jake White had a bit of a spat when Jake suggested John retire when Snorrie kept John in the side despite the clammor from everywhere that John was keeping Bissie out and was not good enough anymore.
Then in June or July somewhere this year when both Jake and whatshisname (former England World Cup winning coach) wanted the DOR job, it was reported that John chose Brendan Venter over those 2.
Now suddenly there is rumours about John and Jake striking up the partnership again, strange old world.
Second half underway.
