DHL Western Province and the Vodacom Blue Bulls are scheduled to face each other today at Twickenham on day two of the World Club 7s tournament. Both teams will be looking forward to improve on what was a disappointing first day for them at the inaugural tournament. Western Province lost all three of their games while the Blue Bulls lost two and drew one game.
Twelve teams are taking part in the World Club 7s with the teams being divided into three pools of four teams for the first day. The top two teams in each group will be playing in the quarter finals of the cup today. They are : ACT Brumbies, Auckland, Buenos Aires, Gloucester Rugby, Harlequins, New York, San Francisco, VVA Saracens Moscow. There will also be a Shield and Plate to play for today.
One of the highlights on day one was the super speedy Carlin Isles scoring a hat trick of tries for his team San Francisco in a close game against Northampton Saints. San Francisco had earlier beaten the Blue Bulls.

Cup semi final results – Brumbies 26/7 Buenos Aires; Auckland 31/14 Harlequins. ‘Interesting’ name for the Brumbies Stephen van der Walt scored two tries in their semi final.
Blue Bulls beat WP 31/19 (half time score – 12/12) in the first match of the day to progress to the Shield final against Russian team Kuban Krasnodar.
Shield final score : Kuban Krasnodar 19/12 Blue Bulls. Krasnodar were leading 19/0 with two minutes to play and had a big enough lead to keep the Bulls at bay in spite of two very late tries by Blue Bulls Neil Meyer.
Western Province eventually won their first game of the tournament in their last match to end 11th and forcing Northampton to 12th (last place) – WP 31/7 Northampton Saints
The ACT Brumbies won the final against Auckland. They lead 12/0 at half time but then Auckland scored an unanswered 14 points to be ahead by 2 points with 2 minutes left, Brumbies Henry Speight then scored his second try of the match in the last minute. Final score – Brumbies 14/12 Auckland.
Buenos Aires 33/7 Harlequins in the play off for 3rd place. Plate Final: New York 33/7 Gloucester.
