rugby365

Senatore is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (m) Acts contrary to good sportsmanship when he allegedly bit Eben Etzebeth. The incident occurred in the 61st minute of the match between Argentina and South Africa at Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza on Saturday.

Matera is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (m) Acts contrary to good sportsmanship when he allegedly made contact with the eyes of Francois Louw in the 45th minute.

Upon further review of the match footage the citing commissioner deemed in his opinion both incidents had met the red card threshold for foul play.

The citings will be considered in the first instance by SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Adam Casselden.

All SANZAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to a Duty Judicial Officer hearing to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.

For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the DJO.

2 Responses to The Rugby Championship: 2 Pumas cited, 1 for biting, 1 for eye-gouging

The 2 citings a clear sign that the Pumas forwards intended to and succeeded to niggle the Bokke… and the Bokke fell or it.

… or maybe Senatore was hungry… and needed a bite to eat!

Pity that the camera angles available did not show Matera’s fingers in Flo’s eye area… the hand was definately around the face and one could see Flo trying to rip the hand away from his eyes.

GBS, go back to an arguement that I mde a few years ago; there should be no disciplinary hearings in rugby. If there is evidence that a player gouged, bit, punched etc that there is a sentence handed down and that is that. No appeal. Then the players will know before they make shit that they will be dealt with.
