Retallick was cited under law 10.4 (j) for alleged dangerous play on a Hawke’s Bay player, eight minutes into the first half. Bay of Plenty won the match 24 -20.
Retallick allegedly lifted the player in a ruck, with the Hawke’s Bay player landing on his head and shoulders.
He will attend a judicial hearing to be held by video-conference with Judicial Officer Nigel Hammond on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, in the match that saw Otago successfully wrestle the Ranfurly Shield from Waikato on Saturday, an off-field yellow card was issued to Waikato lock Brian Alainu’uese for a shoulder charge on the Otago fullback.
