121: ek lees hierdie op wikipedia reeds ?
“In 2012, he moved to the Eastern Province Kings. He was also named in the Kings squad for the 2013 Super Rugby season. He joined the Blue Bulls in 2013.[4]”

Bulls MOET ‘n behoorlike losskakel koop…
Mallett describing these 2 sides as Super Rugby B-League sides who bar JC Janse van Rensburg and a 32-year old Franco van der Merwe, won’t produce Springboks
@ grootblousmile:
pollard….

Hy stel my teleur, daai seun… kyk hoe swak was hy by die Junior Bokke….
Ek dink sy kop is vol muisneste.
@ grootblousmile:
I agree 100% with Mallet, neither Lions nor Kings are really relevant in the total SA rugby context, come to think of it.

SA should sport 4 S rugby teams, no more.
I think Scott van Breda at least won a contract after this game.
That kick from touch could have been the stuff of legend if tue kings managed to win by 7.
In the end, actually a very depressing end to the season.
This result must please quite a few of R-T talkers here. Funny how we have another result that was influenced by Referee mistakes and nothing is done to them. This time there are millions at stake.
I was very critical of how the Kings made their way into the Super 15, not that the Lions deserved a continuance after their years of under-performance.
I for one believe that the competition is fundamentally flawed. This should really be a competition in the Heineken Cup mold, where the top 3 or 4 teams in each year’s domestic competition battle it out in a tournament each year. The Currie Cup is therefor the tournament with the Heineken Cup a kicker at the end.
I know there were many reasons why the current format was adapted, with the Aussies not having a local comp and all that, but really, I can see many reasons including financial but still I believe that it is overplayed and that the players themselves will suffer (and clearly are already, one of the factor contributing to the overseas exodus of players).
Not in Rugby’s best interests to be honest.
As for the Lions and Kings, I don’t really have an emotional stake either way, in any event the team which re-enters the competition will most likely end up propping up the SA conference in last place again.
Solomons on the situation:
“I think it is an absolute disgrace that we are not in Super Rugby and if we are interested in truly transforming this game the Eastern Cape has to be there,” Solomons said.
“We need some leadership here and leadership has got to decide what they want to do about South African rugby. Do they want to move it on or do we want to stay where we were prior to 1994?”
Now to be honest this is a total crock of shite. They played the whole “transformation” game prior to getting in, and then proceeded to contract all the second tier and returning players with no more players of colour (whatever that means these days) than any of the other franchises. Akso very few locally developed players. Sometimes less. Now it hasn’t gone his way and he’s playing the whole transformation card again.
After reading this quote I am reminded of why I was so cynical and anti the political interfering and bullshit that went around their initial inclusion and I am no longer ambivalent on which I would have preferred to stay in.
Go Lions.
Meouw.
@ Stormersboy:
i would like a first half of the season, call it a qualifying tournament in each country. Nz, SA , AUS and even ARG.
Let the top 2 teams in those tournaments for a 8 team Super rugby comp and play for a semi and final spot
@ Stormersboy:
This storm will one day break outagain, the Gov. would love to change the whole rugby scene. So dont be surprised if this is just the spark they(Gov) needed.
@ superBul:
That would work for me, but in my opinion we already have that “first half” scenario in the Currie Cup.
@ superBul:
Maybe. They like nothing that to interfere in something that is supposedly racist (but really isn’t) and turn it into the very thing that they are claiming to correct.
@ Stormersboy:
Yes we have the Currie cup , we must complete our “conference aka as CC before a certain time to identify our Super rugby candidates. This way we can include as many teams in the prelim as we wish.
Might sound complicated but there is no need for double rounds
@ superBul:
Yes I think that the local conference and the Currie Cup is just a duplication. Unnecessary strain on the players and we get viewers fatigue.
I really think SARU need to be smarter about this.
Then again being smart isn’t exactly their forte’

Congrats to the Lions and the Lions supporters, see you next year and expecting a big improvement!!
