The Sharks have announced their side to face the Blue Bulls at Kings Park in Durban on Saturday.
SP Marais shifts to his more familiar position of Fullback and Odwa Ndungane to his more familiar position of Right Wing. At scrumhalf Cobus Reinach gets a start over Charl McLeod who in turn moves down to the bench. Fred Zeilinga retains his starting spot at Flyhalf over veteran Butch James.
Here are some quotes from Brad Macleod-Henderson:
“The Bulls result took everyone by surprise. I am certain they will come back firing. They are a proud union and a quality team and it will be a very tough game on Saturday. The yellow card to one of their props was a breaking point and then the Lions clicked and played some fantastic rugby.
“Tera Mtembu has a groin strain and therefore was not considered for selection this week.
“Botes will continue at 8 and as captain. He is going nicely. The captaincy thing we will look at week by week. Great to have Keegan back to give us another senior head. Keegan and Jacques are both leaders, so is Jean Deysel and Butch James. We don’t take too seriously who wears the captains arm band and who does not.”

Excuses, excuses… don’t look at the Log, look at the players in the sides…
Actually looking forward to the tight 5 battles, but the Sharks loosies are very experienced… and that should not bode well for the Blue Bulls.

You would have all voted once only… after that I would run a Dictatorship…. hehehe
Oh, and I would not employ people who get an “H” for Woodwork in Matric either… hahaha

HEHEHEHE. You sounding more and more like Naas Botha there…. š Do you remember what he said after Natal beat N. Transvaal in the 1990 Currie Cup Final? Let me remind you.
Naas after the game said. “We (N. Transvaal) will never ever lose to them (Natal) NOT in a 100 years EVER will we lose to them again” Bwaaaahahahahahahaha. Those words sure did come back to bite him on his backside…. I wonder if he ever thinks back at what he said? Natal who became the Sharks in 96 went onto be the best team of the 90’s in our country during that time….. Now you sounding like only Naas with your NEVER EVER saying….
Never count out us Sharkies out…
17 @ Gena_ZA:
I know…. š That never ever speech will come back to bite old gbs on his backside too like it did Naas Botha in 1990 after Natal beat them in the CC final. He had said N. Tvl would never in a 100 years ever lose to Natal again, not ever. A HUNDRED years he said………………. bwaaaahahahahaha. Let alone did he know…hehehe. We went on to win another 3 CC in the 90s…. LOL.

Naas Botha is NOT a rocket scientist… I know, he had Criminology with me at Varsity, which by the way was one of those subjects you had to apply timeously for to fail. He applied!
Look, The Sharks and the other SA Currie Cup sides have a window of opportunity this year against the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup, and so far the Golden Lions was the only team to make it count.
The Sharks are up next…and the question is if they can make it count. This weekend will deliver that answer.
The Sharks had a purple patch in the ’90’s and since then, with the best squad depth in all competitions, they have not made it count like they should have… that is the de facto situation.
30 @ MacroBull:
They will get better the more they play.
36 @ grootblousmile:
Yip those works came back to bite old Naas for sure. We had a great team in the 90s also a great coach. Again since 2006 we have had a great team. Just a pity we have not won any SR Cups with these great players. If we secured a home final last year we would have won. WE spent too much energy travelling the world to be really competitive against the Chiefs.
Anyhow what you think of the conference being split in two in the SR? Hell I am against us only playing Arg. Will never work.
I just spend a week with the family in Scottburgh – so liking Natal and the Sharks a lot lately š

works = words

A 2-conference split along the lines that the Aussies are advocating is just plain wrong, dumb and self-serving! It will only serve the Aussie interests and it won’t even suit the New Zealand interests.
But that’s the way the ARU are argueing things, always have, all around their own arses!
We’ve given in to them enough already with their 5th Aussie Super Rugby Franchise and the emphasis more on local derbies to hide the fact that they do not have a strong domestic competition structure. It time to give them a reality check and not bow to their demands again.

Boet
I feel so annoyed about the whole thing. Actually have written so many posts here and on keo about how I feel about it as it has annoyed me no end about how they want to dump us with only ARG.
Not going to repeat myself here go and read my posts on the actual thread. I am totally, totally against us only playing ARG in our side if it is a two way split. We would be playing in the inferior side while they in the superior. Then really we have no choice but to go north.
Go answer on the actual thread boeta. As I have said more about it there.
Oh before I go to the other thread. It was good banter about our teams this morning. I did have a good laugh…hehehe. Banter is cool with me I actually enjoy it, but there is where it must stay… š
Okay see you guys on the other thread about the SR split. Going quick to get some lunch and back in 20min.

@ Puma:
Just hope we don’t get moered by these ‘self-serving’ Ozzies on Sept7, THEN I don’t to hear them gaggle…about how fortunate we are to be allowed to play in the same conference and what what..
@ Puma:
you wont he enjoiyng it much after you guys gifted us a win on saturday š
46 @ MacroBull:
45 @ Pietman:
For sure Piet. Now I really want our Boks to moer em…….
Catch up on the SR two conference split thread.
Just gonna grab a bite to eat. Have been in my study since 6am. Back in 20min
See we have Kaplan as ref. He too not as a good ref as he used to be. Just pleased we don’t have Jaftha…haahaha. Always thought Jaftha was a very good ref until I saw him in SR this year. He has been atrocious in many games this year.
@ Puma:
I don’t know the reason for it: but ever since Kaplan moved from Durban to Capetown he has seemed to be extremely harsh on the Sharks Tomorrow is their ideal chance to pick up a full 5 log points.
