Livewire Bulls blindside flanker Jean Cook has also returned to his roots. The Cheetahs were keen to retain the young star back in 2011, but were unable to do so, due to financial constraints. The Cheetahs on field performances, have positively impacted on their financial resources too, which has enabled the contracting of more players.
Sport24
Jean Cook made a profound impact off the bench for the Bulls, particularly in the matches versus the Griquas, and Western Province. His try against Western Province in particular was indicative of a player with X-factor. He joins fellow Bulls player Francois Venter at the Cheetahs after the conclusion of the Currie Cup. Despite his performances off the bench, he is likely to still be behind Jacques du Plessis, Jacques (Vleis) Engelbrecht, and Arno Botha in the pecking order at the Bulls.
His desire for more game time, together with the Cheetahs recent performances has prompted his move back to the Cheetahs. Cook has an impressive CV, and will be a welcome addition to the Cheetahs flank resources.
As for the Cheetahs, they had to find replacements for Frans Viljoen (Lyon) and Juan Smith (Toulon). Despite an impressive Super 15 tournament by the Cheetahs loose forwards, they still need quality back up players. Jean will compete with the likes of Lappies Labuschagne, Tertius Daniller, Davon Raubenheimer, Jonothan Adendorff, and Hilton Lobberts for a spot in the Cheetahs Super Rugby squad. The fact that he can also play lock, will enhance his prospects.

Jis wie is volgende? Arno Botha?
Eish, that’s a bit of a “Gatslag”… I really rate this boy!
1 @ MacroBull:
How can he be behind Jacque de Plessis in the pecking order?
Hy was Lions Cravens kaptein gewees.
@ Pietman:
Italie B liga clubrugby dalk.
@ MacroBull:
@ MacroBull:
O ok thx, Riversdal se man dan, goeie rugbyspelers in daai wereld, Oakdale Landbou en so.
Seems Freestate and to a lesser extend Griquas might be real forces in the future.
Good news for SA rugby but not so great for the Bulls
I say again, money makes you but breaks you as well.
Helps f-all if you buy all and sundry and can’t manage it, these are individuals with ambition and pride they are not items on the stock exchange.
Thought they would have learned after loosing CJ Stander.
I might be wrong but this is how I see it.
@ Gena_ZA:
Yep all these guys are being bought, and they may have an inflated ego at 19 already where they are angry for not making the first team.
I have heard rumors about Kobus Marais, who is a real star for the future, who is already looking for other opportunities because he is not picked. I hope it is not true though.
CJ Stander was the beginning of the end.
Oh no really disappointing news, normally I can wish players who have been with us for a while all the best when they depart but just can’t get myself to do it this time am so disappointed, thought Cook was a real star in the making, and having recently turned 22 still many of the best years of his rugby career ahead of him.
9 @ MacroBull:
That’s not good news either MacroBull if the rumour is true, not seen him play but have read that Marais is pretty good. Is this just part of the society these days where the use of technology has got us used to things happening quickly, also there seems to be a sense of entitlement in many folk as well.

@ grootblousmile:
I see there is a player called Ngako Ralepelle making his debut for the Blue Bulls U19s at flank this afternoon, do you guys know if he is related to Chilliboy?
12 @ Bullscot:
Chiliboy’s younger brother, in fact!
13 @ grootblousmile:
Interesting thanks for that GBS, hopefully he will turn to be at least as good if not better than ou boet, how are you all doing?
U19S – Blue Bulls 7/0 Leopards, converted try by centre Duncan Mathews in 2nd minute, conversion by JP Smith
15 @ Tripples:
Die choppie is in sy twintigs man… eish
U19s halftime – Blue Bulls 24/0 Leopards, 4 tries – 2 converted, sounds like Duncan Mathews is having a good game
@ Bullscot:
perhaps the Bulls will fly him down to Durban for tomorrow’s game!
@ grootblousmile:
But Goodness GBS, surely he does not have the final say over the financial side of the contracts, that has to be the CEO and management? Think he is just the scapegoat!!!!
And if he is the one with the final say, are Management soooooooooooooooo fkn blind that they cant see he is effing up?
@ Raggie:
hahahahaha, I am too scared to walk past Loftus with a kit bag at this stage as they might make me flyhalve!!!! And I am an almost 50 year old fat tannie!!!!
Not to even mention the scrumhalve position!!!! Geeze have our koffers ever been this empty?
U19s 3 minutes into 2nd half – Blue Bulls 29/5 Leopards, 2nd half action started with an unconverted try by Leopards followed by converted try by Blue Bulls
Go Bulletjies!!!!!! Yaay at last something to shout for!!!
22 @ Tripples:
Talking about scrumhalves Tripples I heard a while ago that young Justin Phillips (think that’s his name)who is meant to be a good scrummy and I think was at Waterkloof was snapped up by WP!
24 @ Tripples:
we should always be shouting for our team, in fact when they not doing well is probably when they need us shouting even more for them
26 @ Bullscot:
And if we don’t shout for them, we’ll shout AT them… hehehe
U19s about 7 min left in match Blue Bulls 43/5 Leopards – tries galore!
27 @ grootblousmile:
Haha yes GBS 🙂
@ grootblousmile:
Gaan jy Ellispark toe?
