Have always said missing kicks will cost teams. It cost my Sharks against the Bulls at Loftus and it cost the Cheetahs this game to go onto the semi.

Burton kicked the best I think for Cheetahs this year. Jeez they have gone through fhs this year for sure.

Just wish they started with Sarel. Especially when Van Zyl was not playing that well. Sarel always makes a difference to the Cheetahs. Brings out the best in their style of play.

Bad luck Cheetahs. This was a really great year for Cheetahs.

    210 @ superBul:
Adriaan Strauss deserves a lot of credit for the whole Cheetahs season… he’s led from the front, he’s been a trojan!

  • 214

    @ grootblousmile:
If we can stay at Loftus it will be great

  • 215

Someone mentioned earlier that Brussouw was being owned Smith, but Skysports are showing some of his plays. He actually had a huge impact on the game for the Cheetahs, and had a very good game. Easily as good as Smith.

  • 216

Good result, I reckon. Better For the Bulls to play the Brumbies than the Saders. Two Nz team will eliminate each other; only one will go through and the winner will show-up all bruised. The Saders will probably won and will then need to travel hopefully to Preoria for the final.

    204 @ grootblousmile:
If Brumbies play like this against the Bulls well they will get smashed at Loftus that is for sure.

Chiefs/Saders could go either way. Always very, very tough a derby game and especially a semi. The way Saders played yesterday, they should take it, then they played not that great the week before. So let us see. Chiefs will be up for it for sure, but so will Saders be.

  • 218

    214 @ superBul:
Oh shit yes… if the Chiefs win, Bulls have to travel if they make it past the Brumbies.

    Goooooooooo Bulls!
    Go Saders!

212 @ Puma: Wanted to say earlier, but got caught
up in that last try, but Cheetahs should have brought Sarel on at half time. Piet clearly wasn’t having his best game, and his kicking (box) just wasn’t there tonight. But….hindsight is a wonderful thing!!! Sarel was definitely the difference in the sides in the last few minutes though.

What is so great with Strauss?

He is not the type of hooker that can run like Uli, Schalk Brits….. he hit the guys hard , all big hookers do that. What i must admit he is relentless, never stop. But its always the same thing , quite easy to read. Well he never gained 5 meters today, not that i have seen it.

    201 @ superBul:

    Super,

What you on about now? How on bloody earth can you say that Strauss is not a good captain? Just look where he got his side to this year against all odds? Cheetahs don’t have the players that: Bulls, Sharks and Stormers do and they made a play-off, with a brilliant captain. Sure every player makes a mistake. He was trying his best in a pressure situation there. Be fair now, he is one of our best captains in SA right now. Best hooker? Not sure, think it is still Bissie.

maybe they simply play him too much a pivot at the Cheetahs

  • 224

I don’t think we have given the Brumbies enough credit in taking on Jake White. The Aussie, as we know, are the wiliest of players, and to have taken on the wiliest coach of all was inspired. The players have become even ‘wilier’ – if thats possible. You could clearly see that at the scrums. The little things that they did to upset the Cheetahs. As McLook said, in the last B&I LIons match, the ref picked it up, but they risk it, and when they don’t get caught, they do it.

Those little things have Jake White written all over them!

He would have been a great Coach for the national side – he must be spitting at Mickey Arthur for stuffing up his chance!

    219 @ Just For Kicks:

When Smit and Van Zyl was not controlling the game in the first half surely Naka should have brought on Sarel and Elgar? Elgar has done well for Cheetahs this year and every single time Sarel comes on he turns the Cheetahs game around for them.

Jake got to them with the conservative thing. Cheetahs were playing in their shell in the first half and well for most of the game. Until Sarel came on. Pity too that lost Fransis. Think he played well for them at fh. I am not a big Goosen fan. He is either brilliant or just really awful. Much like Cooper. Burton Fransis played the best for them at fh this year. Well that is my feeling, then Elgar.

    225 @ Puma:
    Like Lambie??

  • 227

    224 @ Just For Kicks:
Oz might be spitting after the RC for not making Jake their coach. I doubt McKenzie will do much after seeing how awful his Reds were yesterday and last week even if they won by 2 points. Yesterday his Reds were taken apart by Saders left right and centre, damn all over the show they were shown up.

So what will he do with the National side? I have my doubts. It will be between Boks and ABs this RC. Last year even though we played dour rugby, had we had our kicking boots on we would have beaten, Arg away, Oz away and Abs away. We very well could have won the RC. This year think we have a good chance as Morne is back to his best. Last year he cost us dearly.

  • 228

@ superBul: I think that Strauss was identified and targeted by the Brumbies today, but his ground work was excellent. Between him and Brussouw, they affected 11 turnovers tonight. He did his job.

  • 229

Bulls will have to front up with the forwards against the Brumbies… and somehow do much better at the breakdowns than they have in the last few weeks

  • 230

OK let me go and help at the Nursery, i enjoyed the great effort by the Cheetahs and in my eyes they deserved to win. 2 very dubious penalties cost them, the one against Brussow was unfair. The first one too , the player was not even down on the ground , why must the tackler release there. Marginal almost all the penalties.

    But Cheers for now.

JFK enjoy the England trashing of the Aussies

  • 231

@ Puma: Going to be interesting to see how McKenzie does. The late disruption certainly gives us a better chance, thats for sure

  • 232

    Okay Cheers everyone.

    Catch up during the week.

  • 233

@ superBul: Cheers Supers, will do!

  • 234

Right, off to take the dogs for a walk. Will catch up with the cricket later

  • 235

Fark The Rugby Championship for now… my focus is fully on Super Rugby Semi’s for now!

The Rugby Championship is still almost a month away….

  • 236

stuart jackson het die game vir die brumbies gegee op n skink bord

  • 237

    @ Just For Kicks:
    228
exactly , anybody could have seen it. Why did he not use other runners then. Why keep banging his head against the wall. When Sarel came on and some variation came in the Cheetahs game they had the Brumbies running around.

  • 238

    231 @ Just For Kicks:
Well with most our teams out of the running now for the SR Cup means most our players will be rested this year. Last year after the marathon travel Sharks had the very next week we were playing in a RC game. Crazy as we had plenty Boks in that team. So think this year we will be far better prepared than last year. Think this could be our year if we stay injury free. ABs always brilliant, there are very few years that they are not great, they are mostly always brilliant. We could and should be on the same level as them all of the time, not just a year here or there. WE have more talented rugby players to choose from than them. So it is a mystery why we never can beat them almost everytime at home and more often on their home turf. Hope this year we can. WE have more time to prepare. We need to add more to our game plan this year than we done last year. Well hoping.

Okay I am out of here now. Catch up later or during the week.

  • 239

So looks like the prediction of a Bools vs Sadists final is looking more and more likely.
    Go Bools!
