Chiefs coach Dave Rennie expressed his delight with the 23-year-old, who has been a regular in the Crusaders team this year.

“I had the pleasure of working with Tom Marshall in 2010,” Rennie said of his stint as New Zealand Under-20 coach.

“He is a quality man and a quality player and we are rapt to welcome him to the Chiefs family.”

Marshall also expressed his delight at the move.

“I was coached by Dave [Rennie] in the NZ U20 side, so I was keen to reunite with him,” Marshall said.

“I am keen to push for more starting opportunities in my preferred position so the change was appealing, but I have really enjoyed my time at the Crusaders.”

The 1.83m, 96kg utility back will move to Hamilton at the conclusion of his NPC campaign with Tasman.

Marshall has played 40 matches for the Crusaders, 26 for the Tasman NPC side and was part of the winning 2010 Junior World Champion New Zealand U20 side.
