Queen out on the pitch, could be punting for role as 3rd umpire
Wow, Turn my back for 5 minutes, and England in all sorts of trouble
England and the English journo’s have been rather cocky going into the second test – this start will have brought them back down to earth with a little bump!
Hello JFK looks like it was a very good first hour for Australia, was in the car when heard via Longwave the Pietersen dismissal that made it 28/3 or 3/28 as the Australian commentator put it.
3 @ Just For Kicks:
Yes even before the series started there seemed to be a lot writing Australia off completely, Botham was quoted as saying 5-0 I think to England, and think it may of been him or some other high profile bloke who said 10-0 would be the combined result between this Ashes and the return series which will be played later this year in Australia. Talk about overkill that’s 10 tests between these teams in the space of what 6 months.
3 @ Just For Kicks:
5 @ Bullscot:
Anyway I had predicted a 3-1 series win for England so maybe also a bit guilty of thinking England would do quite well, but at least gave the Australians some credit to suggest England wouldn’t be winners in 2 out of the 5 tests.
Was tempted to go for a 3-2 win for England but thought there was at least going to be a draw in one match, and still don’t know why had the feeling that England would win 3 games.
England 80/3 at lunch with Trott on 34 and Bell on 23 to resume batting after the break
…and the second session is just about to start
So, Trott goes, holing out to deep square leg. England in deep Schtum now at 134/4
@ Bullscot:In agreement. I also predicted a 3 match win scenario by England, how many Aus win, is a much harder prediction. There is nothing worse than a wounded animal, and Aus are hurting at the moment, what, with the Mickey Arthur revelations and the in-house problems that are going through the media washing machine
Australia finally pry out the wicket of Bell with a mischievous leggy – Clarke taking the catch as Bell nicks, off Smith’s bowling. Bell made an outstanding 109 off 211 balls, when England’s backs were seriously against the wall. England’s hero, once again. And Pieterson???? Eng 274/5
….and Smith strikes again. This pitch looks like it is a bit of a turner. Dats 3, 4 and 5 are going to be very interesting. Bairstow goes for 67 off 146 balls, as he nonchalantly loops it back to the bowler. C & B. Australia right back in it now. Eng 279/6
Can you believe it, Smith gets another. Prior, what WERE you thinking? A massive swashbuckling swish, almost down on one knee, only to nick it through to Haddin. How stupid was that? 15 minutes and 5 overs till close of play, your side in serious trouble and you play a brainfart shot like that!!! Well, he goes for 6 off 18 balls. Eng 283/7
England have gone from 271/4 to 283/7, and two of those wickets were completely pointless. Inspired stuff, though, by Clarke to continue with Smith, when he could taken the new ball.
Anderson is in as night watchman, and boy, does he look like one! Reckon management are just too scared to let Sally out and into the wolves den, they’re going to skin him when he does get out there!
New ball finally taken – England get some respite from Smith, only to risk the odd broken finger for their premier fast bowler as the sky gets a little gloomier. Still 2 overs of the day to survive
…..they’re attacking Anderson’s rib cage – mighty close to the fingers as he tries to fend off the snorters!
18 @ Just For Kicks:
Kickers, your Article is a bit wonky… no heading, couple of other things too.. Can I jump in to Edit a bit…
And Anderson survives. End of days play, Eng 289/7.
A very up and down day for both sides, Australia came out fighting, and had England on the ropes at 28/3, but then Bell and Bairstow put on a fine partnership to take England to 271, and get England right back on top. Then up steps Steve Smith and takes 3 wickets for about 12 runs to put Australia back on top again. Some indifferent bowling – especially from young Pattinson, who was tonked all over the park, but also some indifferent and lazy shots by the English to keep the game alive.
We’re in for a corker of a test, I think, especially if that pitch does break up in this heat!
@ grootblousmile:Yup, I am out of it. Thanks
@ grootblousmile: Don’t know what happened to the heading, it was there! I must have been getting too excited at the end there!!!!!!
23 @ Just For Kicks:
OK, I’ve edited… you can update the Day’s final scores…
I’m back out of Edit Mode
PS! Keep the Yellow I’ve used for Australia, your Yellow was illegible…
@ grootblousmile:Yes Boss
25 @ Just For Kicks:
Morning Kickers!
Did you get That Windows Installation sorted?
Can you believe it, first ball of the day, and Bresnan nicks Harris through to the keeper. Australia with their tails up here! Eng 289/8
My prediction is that the Aussies would like Sally to hang around for a while. They want to soften him up physically and mentally – and the longer he is there, the better job they will do!!
Anderson goes, nicks another from Harris through to Haddin for 12, and Harris gets a fifer! Eng 318/9
Dare I say it, but the two tail enders are doing stirling work for the English. Swann Swatting everything, and Sally is joining in now, too, with a six. Eng 357/9
