Very good team. Just might have started Alberts at 4 lock and start with Deysel at blindside, thought he played very well last week against the Lions. Also would have made Deysel captain for this team. Would have had either Kanko or Tera start at 8. Keegan has been out of sorts the whole season now and either of those two players should have played ahead of Keegan at 8.

Surprised to see Bissie on the bench. Though do understand as he only played 15min each time of the Boks, so starting a game here might be still to early. Give him a full 40min in the 2nd half then. See Herbst name bracketed with Mieni so Herbst still could play. Just feel for Deysel on the bench and wonder why Kanko is left out again?

That is a solid centre pairing for sure.

    Go Sharks.

    2 @ Puma:
Hi Puma so still no place for Kankowski not even with a 5/2 forwards/backs bench that includes two loose forwards. What is going on there? Many of your fellow fans seemed to think John Plumtree should have picked Kanko, now Plumtree gone but still no sign of Kanko???

  • 5

So without Kanko or Tera there I just may have gone with this loose trio seeing that they not playing Alberts at 4 lock and we do have Jandre on the bench.

    8 Alberts
    7 Deysel
    6 Coetzee

Would have started with Botes at 6 just that he has not had a lot of game time. So better to start with Coetzee. For me that would be a hell of a loose trio. Not fast, but heck a damn strong loosies that. Just not sure why Keegan keeps getting selected when he is playing awful right now.

    1 @ whatever:
Hello whatever are these the teams you are tipping to lose Happy-Grin

  • 7

    4 @ Bullscot:
I have no idea. Unless the assistants are doing it for Plum. As read in the paper yesterday this game will be dedicated to Plum from the players. So if Plum was not getting on with Kanko probably the assistants just never selected him. Could be have no idea. For me it is just terrible to treat the player like that. He is a splendid 8 and far better than Keegan at 8. Also he adds a lot in the lineouts. Think it was a mistake not to select him.

Have no idea at all really just everything is just guess work from me. Could it be that it is actually Keegan and Kanko not getting on? Could it be that? That too is just a guess have no idea at all. Just not sure why Keegan keeps getting selected when he is the one playing terrible rugby right now.

  • 8

    5 @ Puma:
Your loose trio looks quite good Puma, although just seen this Tera guy you speak of once and he looked very good. It may not be conventional but I am of the opinion that if you have a player who may not be match fit that you want in your match squad you play him from the start, that way as soon as he tires/struggles you can pull him off but if you bringing him on as a sub then how do you know when is a good time to bring him on how long will he last…

  • 9

    1 @ whatever:
Chiefs, Saders, Sharks, Bulls and Stormers. 🙂

  • 10

    8 @ Bullscot:
I think most coaches will play players from the bench that have been out for awhile.

  • 11

    7 @ Puma:
Not good for you guys to have all this going on, but what do we really know from the outside much of it could just be speculation. Its funny how things can change in a year, I remember almost a year ago that Mr Meyer was getting loads of abusive for not starting with Daniel for the Boks and now it seems like all and sundry Sharks fan wants Daniel out, hey man fans can be so fickle. I said a few season ago when we looked to have a problem with amount of talent at centre that I thought Daniel could have been converted to a centre but that has not happened and now he seems to be found wanting physically in the pack which I think may be why he seems to be giving away so many penalties, what do you think?

  • 12

    10 @ Puma:
Yip that is waht normally happens thats why I said my opinion is not conventional, still think you can get the most of the returning player by letting him get on from the start and play his heart out in the knowledge there is insurance on the bench for anytime he needs off, also after some time out of the game the players must be dead keen to just play again so its surely better for them to run out there at the start and get that out of their system than sit waiting on the bench.

  • 13

    11 @ Bullscot:
I am still a Keegan fan, also don’t think you lose the talent you have. Just think he has struggled since coming back from injury and just been out of sorts. He played his best rugby last year when he was playing at openside. Remember the last 5 games that is where he played and Kanko played at 8.

I am with you on Keegan being a 12 have said so many times as well. Many Flanks can play inside centre and the way Daniel played last year he would have been a terrific centre with his off loading game. His defence last year with Sharks was solid. Just not sure why players go off the boil in their game like many do. Remember how poor Habs was for 2 years? Now he is playing his best rugby he has ever played.

Anyhow think Kanko should have been there especially for the lineouts or even Tera. Both are better right now than Keegan at 8.

  • 14

    10 @ Puma:
Gatland has bucked the trend in picking Tommy Bowe who has been out for a few weeks straight in starting line up with like for like replacement Cuthbert who scored try last week on the bench.

  • 15

    14 @ Bullscot:
Sometimes a player that has been out injured does come back and start and not off the bench. Remember Beast last year when he came back from injury he started and played a full game and was superb. So you have a good point there.

  • 16

    15 @ Puma:
Gosh you have a good memory Puma there remembering about game last year and that was really good of Beast to last a whole game after injury especially in the front row, must get going lunch time here have a good afternoon there man cheers.

  • 17

    16 @ Bullscot:
Yip us oldies have good memories….hehehe.

Cheers bud me to have to dash. Catch up later.

  • 18

    Blue Bird,

  • 22

Welkom NaartjieNortjie lol, omtrent tyd dat jy na n ordentlike site toe kom.

  • 23

    Ha ha
    Se ek mos ook
    @ Sharks_forever:

  • 24

    @ whatever:
Surely you jest? Kings beat the Bulls at Loftus? Almost impossible. Blues have also shown that they don’t like the Shark Tank. And the Cheetahs are just too good for the Breezers this year.

  • 25

Hate stating the obvious, maar after the passionate talk of transformation the Kings boast the whitest team of all S15 teams in SA! I am proud of the boertjies van Patensie en Hankey!

  • 26

This is the team I would have liked the Sharks to play, my problem with the selected team is no fetcher and the Sharks really only have 2 that boast that ability and both are on the bench.

Daniel as far as I am concerned has been in such bad form that it is a disgrace that he is being selected, most in here will know I am a Daniel fan, but not on present form, Injuries also of course still play a huge roll.

Here are the injured or not selected
    Not selected:
    Mtembu
    Fisher
    Robinson
    Zeilinga
    Stander
    Chadwick
    Dell
    MOndi

    Injured:
    Kanko
    Burden
    Herbst
    PSDT
    Bresler
    Peet Marais
    Jordaan
    Steyn
    JPP
    Whitehead
    Bosman
    Joubert
    Jandre
    Heimer Williams

    That’s still 14 Players out.

Here is the team I would have selected and take into account a player like Cooper is very unlucky in my selections but Bismark brings to the party what Cooper does and more, Also Kanko is damn good in the lineouts and for me a better 8thman than Daniel.

Also Deysel of late has been the Sharks best Loose forward and is sadly not getting rewarded for fine form, he hits the rucks better than the others, tackles damn hard, slows ball down at the rucks and steals balls like a fetcher something the other Sharks loose forwards do not do, needless to say his ball carrying skills are huge.

So with players in the 22 I would have gone for…..

    1 Beast
    2 Bismark
    3 Jannie
    4 Alberts
    5 Franco
    6 Marcell
    7 Deysel
    8 Kanko
    9 Mcleod
    10 LAmbie
    11 Mvovo
    12 Butch
    13 Ludik
    14 Oddone
    15 Viljoen

    16 MiniCooper
    17 Herbst/Mienie
    18 Hewitt/Jandre
    19 Botes
    20 Daniel
    21 Reinach
    22 Van Tonder

    Capt, Bismark/Deysel

    How are things?

    25 @ kwas:
Hello… nog ‘n verlore seun wat terug is… gooi mielies hier broer!

  • 29

    26 @ Sharks_forever:
Howzit bro, How you doing? Hope well.

That is a far better team you have selected to the one the coaches have selected. I too thought that Alberts may start at lock with Deysel starting at blindside with Kanko on at 8 or even Tera there. Though thought with Kanko good in the lineouts he would have got selected. Just not to be. So daft that and I too think Keegan should have been dropped to the bench or dropped. He has not played well this year. Only one game where he has played well and that was in the Rebels game. So how he gets selected ahead of Kanko, Tera and now Deysel on the bench is a mystery. Not having a go at Keegan as I too am still a fan of his, just that he is totally out of form.

Kinda knew they would not start with Bissie as he only had 15min in each game with the Boks. Think he will get more than that with the Sharks. Hoping for a full 40min in the 2nd half, probably only get 30min.

Do like our centre pairing. Thought Ludik was absolutely terrific last week at outside centre. Such a magnficent player no matter where you play him. Great at FB as well. Really hope he stays with the Sharks for next year. Good to see Butchie back FINALLY as I felt it was a waste having him with Sharks this year as he has been out for all the games. Only now starting when our season is just about finished. Though he will be great for Pat playing inside centre. Like to see how he and Ludik go as well. Should be very interesting that.

Who is Von Tonder? I have no idea. Which position does he play?

Anyhow again I too feel for Deysel as he is one of my all time favourite Sharks player. Fransie, Deysel and JPP my favourites. Now without Kanko or Tera there Deysel should have started. Even if they needed to play Keegan, then I would have had Alberts at 4 lock with Deysel at 7 with Coetzee at 6. Or Alberts at 8 Deysel 7 and Coetzee 6. Or if they had to start Keegan, then Alberts at 7 with Deysel on at 6 and put Coetzee on the bench. Ag, just have no idea why Deysel has to be dropped to the bench really. We do need Alberts to start so it really should be Keegan on the bench or dropped totally with Tera or Kanko there.

Hope we can win this one. Will miss this game as I am off to a wedding on Saturday ….. damn, damn and damn again. 🙄 Who gets married when there is rugby on? Why don’t they look at the schedule? also will miss the BIL/Oz game and so looking forward to that. Will set my pvr that is for sure for both games.
