According to Die Burger’s website, Treu will hold talks with the SA Rugby Union (SARU) and the various provinces to see if a few players can be released for the tournament, which takes place from June 28-30.

“We want put ourselves in the best position to win the tournament. We will visit the different franchises to see what players are possibly available.

“If some of them can play, then we’d like to invite them to our practices.”

Die Burger reports that Treu has speedsters Gio Aplon (Stormers) and Willie le Roux (Cheetahs) in his sights. However, it will be tough for the coach to get hold of the duo, as the Stormers and Cheetahs square off in an important Super Rugby derby at Newlands that weekend.

The Blitzbokke finished second overall in the recently completed Sevens World Series, finshing behind New Zealand. They did, however, beat the Kiwis in three finals during the series.
