19 Responses to Super Rugby: Teams for the weekend – Round 16 (Final Revision)

  • 1

    Crusaders
    Brumbies
    Blues
    Reds
    Stomps
    VRYSTAAT

  • 2

Stormers can jump to 9th!! if they win with a bonus point

  • 3

The hopefuls- they hope the teams above them implode, getting to the playoffs not in their own hands
    My rating

    Blues , now 7th on 42 points
Blues v Highlanders A (great chance for a 5 pointer)
Blues v Sharks A (although they scored the most bonus point i think they will walk away with zero)
Blues v Cheetahs A (they can get at least 1 point here, running styles of both teams)
Blues v Chiefs H (hard to call, they might be dead then, Chiefs might rest players if they are sure of their placing, at least 1 point)
i see them ending on 49, they might do better , if they get full house in every game they can reach 62, i cant see that happening.

The hopefuls- they hope the teams above them implode, getting to the playoffs not in their own hands
    My rating

Waratahs currently 8th on 39 points

Waratahs v Crusaders A (absolute must win game, chance – slim, might get 1 bonus point)
Waratahs v Force A (depending what happened in their previous game , this one can be only for pride. 50/50 chance, maybe 4 points)
Waratahs v Reds H ( if the Reds are still in the top 3 i would not rate their chances higher than 25%, if they are in with a chance for a playoff spot 50/50, no win, 1 point

i see them ending on 45, they might do better , if they get full house in every game they can reach 54, even that might get them only in at 6th place.

  • 5

The hopefuls- they hope the teams above them implode, getting to the playoffs not in their own hands
    My rating

Hurricannes currently 9th on 38 points

Hurricanes v Brumbies A (this will be a good one, 50/50, 1 point
Hurricanes v Chiefs A (a real great game to sit and enjoy if you are a South African, with a relative easy game to follow they will destroy each other, 2 points)
    Hurricanes v Highlanders H ( i would go for a 5 pointer here)
Hurricanes v Crusaders A (if they did get that 8 points i predicted or more this will be the decider for 6th spot, they can by winning eliminate either the Crusaders or the Waratahs)

i see them ending on 46, if they get full house in every game they can reach 58, that might get them in at 5th place.

  • 6

The real contenders- they have their fate in their own hands
    My rating

Chiefs currently 1st on 52 points

    Chiefs v Hurricanes H (tough call, i give them a 66% chance to win , 4 points)
Chiefs v Crusaders A (a even tougher call, away game 1 Point)
Chiefs v Blues A (Blues coming back from SA after they played the Sharks and Cheetahs, maybe a 5 pointer but most likely a 4)

i see them ending on 61, if they get full house in every game they can reach 67. i see them ending 1st.

  • 7

The real contenders- they have their fate in their own hands
    My rating

Bulls currently 2nd on 50 points

    Bulls v Cheetahs A ( rate their chance 66% for a win, 4 points)
Bulls v Kings H (this is not a game i like , it can easily disrupt our build up. 5 points)
Bulls v Sharks H ( if i can pick a game to lose this will be the one, but i think the team will roll on and win , i am reluctant to give the Bulls 4 so i will go for a losing bonus point)
Bulls v Stormers A (if the previous game did indeed turn out the way i predicted , this will be a furious Bulls effort, 50/50 game with the Bulls winning with 4 bonus points)

i see them ending on 64, if they get full house in every game they can reach 70. if they get that they will end 1st. Not realistic , in fact i hope not , that might be reaching a peak too early. In fact i hope they get a good wake up call before that.

The real contenders- they have their fate in their own hands
    My rating

Brumbies currently 3rd on 50 points

Brumbies v Hurricanes H (50/50 game , home ground might swing it, 4 points)
Brumbies v Rebels H (shocked by the rubble Rebels? possible. 2 points)
Brumbies v Force A ( wake up call previous game 4 points)

i see them ending on 60, if they get full house in every game they can reach 65.

  • 9

The real contenders- they have their fate in their own hands

Cheetahs currently 3rd on 45 points

Cheetahs v Bulls H ( whow i called it a win for the Bulls, this one can bite me, still feel they will lose , 2 bonus points)
Cheetahs v Stormers A (only the pride of the Stormers can spoil this one, the game plan of the Cheetahs are far more superior , defense will keep this down to a 4 pointer)
    Cheetahs v Blues H (66% chance , 4 points)
    Bye (4 points)

i see them ending on 59, if they get full house in every game they can reach 64. Ending 4th

    Should read

Cheetahs currently 4th on 45 points

  • 11

Dark horse – have their fate in their own hands, no not really

Reds currently 5th on 45 points

    Reds v Rebels H (5 points)
    Reds v Waratahs A ( 4 points)

i see them ending on 54, if they get full house in every game they can reach 55. Ending 6th or 7th.

The Darkest of Dark horses – This team can overturn all the predictions above. They know how to play the crucial games.

    Crusaders – 6th on 42 points

Crusaders v Waratahs H (4 points is absolutely crucial, might be a real humdinger or a runaway train, Crusaders are bleeding but they will rather revive than die)
Crusaders v Highlanders A ( this one can turn ugly, 5 points)
Crusaders v Chiefs H ( a game South Africans will enjoy, a real war. Home ground advantage might pull them through. 4 points)
Crusaders v Hurricanes H ( haha this one might be a banana peel, in their last 6 games the score stands 2-2-2, two wins ,2 draws and the last 2 lost,2 bonus points)

i see them ending on 57, if they get full house in every game they can reach 62. Ending 5th

If all the above happens the log will end like this
    64 Bulls
    61 Chiefs
    60 Brumbies
    59 Cheetahs
    57 Crusaders
    54 Reds

Thats enough dreaming let me rest my head to get another dream, a vision. Delighted

    got this one right too

This gives both the Sharks and Stormers now a mathematical chance, slight but there.
