Jano VermaakVodacom Bulls scrumhalf Jano Vermaak will make a 100th Vodacom Super Rugby appearance on Saturday if he takes to the field in his side’s match against The Sharks in Durban.

The former Cats (11 caps) and MTN Lions (62 caps) player will represent the Vodacom Bulls for the 28th time and become South Africa’s 22nd centurion at that level.

Bulls Media Release

He has been named on the bench for the derby clash, but should see action in what is anticipated to be a very bruising affair. Vodacom Bulls coach, Frans Ludeke, who earlier in the day signed a three year extension as Head Coach, made some minor changes to the team what outplayed the Highlanders last weekend. Two are in the backline.

Bjorn Basson returns to the left wing berth and swop places with Lionel Mapoe, who will move to the bench. It will also be a milestone of sorts for Bjorn Basson, with the try-scoring ace playing in his 50th match of Super Rugby, having also represented the Toyota Cheetahs nine times.

The most experienced Super Rugby midfielder in the country, Wynand Olivier, is also back at 12, with Jan Serfontein moving to the bench. Both Serfontein and replacement flyhalf Louis Fouchè have niggles and a final call on who will play in Durban will be made later.

Ludeke also refreshed his front row with Dean Greyling returning in place of Mornè Mellett. Willie Wepener also rotates with Callie Visagie on the bench.

The team to play The Sharks (with Super caps) is:

15 Jürgen Visser (7), 14 Akona Ndungane (91), 13 J J Engelbrecht (27), 12 Wynand Olivier (108), 11 Bjorn Basson (49), 10 Morné Steyn (117), 9 Francois Hougaard (51), 8 Pierre Spies (100, Captain), 7 Dewald Potgieter (61), 6 Deon Stegmann (69), 5 Juandré Kruger (28), 4 Flip van der Merwe (57), 3 Frik Kirsten (25), 2 Chiliboy Ralepelle (63), 1 Dean Greyling (32).

Replacements: 16 Willie Wepener (61), 17 Werner Kruger (86), 18 Grant Hattingh (16), 19 Arno Botha (20), 20 Jano Vermaak (99), 21 Louis Fouchè (20) / Jan Serfontein (8), 22 Lionel Mapoe (38).

    Eish, some strange selections!

I would have picked Morné Mellett at loosehead, Frik Kirsten at tighthead, Jano Vermaak at scrummie, Jan Serfontein at inside centre…

The Bulls rotational approach could backfire this weekend…. badly so!

    Juandre Kruger not injured then?

A woman just called 702 and stated that she had seen a Bulls player parked in the disabled bay at her locl shops the evening before.

She didn’t want to name him but John Robbie pushed her.

    Seems it was Mr Kruger.

    NAME AND SHAME!

He can be glad my paraplegic mate Mike wasn’t there, because Mr Kruger would still not be able to move his car. Mike regularly parks cretins like this in and refuses to move his vehicle when they come out.

Sincerely hope that Mr Kruger and / or the Bulls make an apology for his stupid actions.

You’re a public figure Mr Kruger, just as much as any politician, act accordingly.
