The Toyota Cheetahs team to take on the Sharks in Bloemfontein on Saturday at 17h05 has been named.
Toyota Cheetahs:
1. Trevor Nyakane, 2. Adriaan Strauss (Captain), 3. Lourens Adriaanse, 4. Lood de Jager, 5. Francois Uys, 6. Frans Viljoen, 7. Lappies Labuschagne, 8. Phillip van der Walt, 9. Piet van Zyl, 10. Johan Goosen, 11. Raymond Rhule, 12. Robert Ebersohn (VC), 13. Johann Sadie, 14. Willie le Roux, 15. Hennie Daniller.
Replacements: 16. Rayno Barnes, 17. Coenie Oosthuizen, 18. Waltie Vermeulen, 19. Boom Prinsloo, 20. Sarel Pretorius, 21. Elgar Watts, 22. Ryno Benjamin.
Whilst the Sharks have yet to finalise their team, they should rightly start as favourites. This Cheetahs team could ask some serious questions though and being a home game helps.
Are you pleased with this team Cheetah, is it quite similar to what you thought it would be before hand? How can Brusow be in the touring squad which is leaving after this game but he is not even on the bench here?
Not familiar with all the names but just curious how many Griquas players have made it into this side? Also can understand that with Brusow being picked for the touring squad there is no place there for Marnus Schoeman but surely he must be kept close to your Super rugby squad and was possibly worth playing off the bench here, after between Brusow and Schoeman you have maybe the 2nd and 3rd best fetchers around in SA at the moment.
@ Bullscot:
Hey Bully! Well apart from Brussow, and Ferreira (lock) that are still out this is about the best available. To answer your questions Brussow has been training with the squad, and should play probably off the bench against the Chiefs next week. Griquas players in the team are: Willie le Roux, Adriaanse, and Barnes.
I expected Schoeman to be in, but I reckon the imminent return of Brussow probably played a role. I am surprised that Brummer didn’t make it, but he was poor in the warm ups.
Still a team that could cause an upset!
People would propably crucify me but I think Ebersohn is vastly overrated and with Sadie still trying to find his form of old the Sharks with Steyn and Jordaan can destroy them
Pleased to see Van Zyl start. Rate him highly. Jeez there will be a hard fought battle this year for the 9 Bok Jersey between: Reinach, Van Zyl, Groom and Hougaard. That kinda competition always brings out the best in players and is good for SA Rugby.
