Southern KingsGWK Griquas have beaten the Southern Kings 30 -27, in what was the Kings final warm up match. This result raises yet more questions as to the Kings preparedness for this years Super 15. Simon Westraadt scored a try five minutes from the final whistle to seal the Kings loss. Burton Francis converted, bringing his personal haul to 20 for the match. Burton Francis must have been left smiling, after he was left out of the Kings group earlier this year.

Scorers:

Southern Kings:
Tries: Luke Watson, Sergeal Petersen, Penalty try
Conversion: Demetri Catrakilis (3)
Penalty Goals: Demetri Catrakilis (2)

GWK Griquas:
Tries: Leon Karemaker, Burton Francis, Simon Westraadt
Conversions: Burton Francis (3)
Penalty Goals: Burton Francis (3)

Griquas should be DEMANDING their own SR Franchise and place for 2014!

  • 2

    Ja, well, no, fine.

  • 3

Well now that is not good news for the Kings. As this is not even a full strength Kwas side. Some of their players are with Cheetahs getting ready to play Super Rugby. Think the Kings are going to struggle in Super Rugby. They may get better as the season goes who knows, but if they pick up any injuries they will be in even more trouble.

If any team deserves to get promotion it is Griquas. They prove themselves every year in the Currie Cup.

Bwhahahaha!! Wait *caching me breath* ….

So even with their big guns peashooters they still got their bums handed to them by an under strength Griquas team!?

This makes the Super Rugby season even more mouth watering….can’t wait!!

    Who-s-the-man

    Howzit old mate!
You can say that again, Griquas deserve to play with the ‘big boys’, they and Cheetahs are the home of platteland rugby, always have been for decades…….first Currie Cup final was played at Kimberley, and Griquas through the years have been our ‘salt of the earth’ team.

The ‘big hole’ should be moved from Kimberley down to Mandela Bay, the ‘Political Queens gaan hulle gat sien’.

Aai manne hierdie site gaan die storie holrug ry. Geen genade vir die sondaars (Watsons) nie.

    Howzit Piet,

You you doing boet? Hope well. Are you still in Saudi?

For sure Piet, Kwas deserve to be in Super Rugby well before Kings as they have proved themselves in Currie Cup over and over. That is where all teams should prove themselves for promotion to Super Rugby.

Fear for the Kings in Super Rugby, if they can’t beat a under strength Kwas side, they in huge trouble I think. Kings should only have come into this tourney after 2015 and that means after them playing Currie Cup to get them ready for Super Rugby, which is the toughest rugby tourney in the world. They could prove us wrong but I very much doubt it. Think the winning margins against them will be huge from some teams.

    @ Puma:
Puma i dont want to copy and paste, but a good balanced view was made on another site. In short it said the Lions knew whats coming, in fact it could have been the Bulls that had to sit out or any of the Super teams. That article also said that the fact that its a one year deal for the Kings , that made it almost impossible to attract the best players.
SARU was dreaming and broke promises all the way, i remember in the beginning it was supposed to be a 2 year guaranteed entrance for the Kings. Anyway whatever happens to the Kings , the no 5 Franchise in SA is now f@rked for life.
Griquas can NOT go on their own, forget that. Even the combined Cheetah franchise are chuffed in getting a 10th place, says a lot.

Same thing happened to Vleis Visagie in Nelspruit, shot his teenage daughter in the early morning hours about 8 years ago. Very sad, the big man has never recovered from that, who would?

I don’t think he is a poor man. More of a murderer.

The is the A.C plan. Getting everyone on the edge sending out hit squads to murder farmers who don’t want to give up their land.

Coming back to the Kings at least the Kings can now concentrate on the Super Ru… the Currie C… their families.

Hoop hy is skoon.

    @ Bliksem:
Re comments 15, 19, 22 etc, whatever happened one can only begin to imagine what anguish the families on both sides are going through right now, so think your comments are really in poor taste, you would do good to retract them methinks.

  • 29

    @ superBul:
4 Skote is nie n ongeluk nie end diewe kom nie deur jou voordeur nie,

Jy mag net soveel geweld gebruik om die aanval te stop. 4 Skote was te veel. Nie eers n policeman aan diens sal daai saak wen nie.

    @ Bullscot:
I have said nothing about their families. He was arrested for murdering his girlfriend correct? So how is it distasteful? A celebrity do not make you above the law or do not make you special. You kill someone your a murderer. Unlawful intentional causing of death of another human being.

Self defense there is no case. Not with that amount of shots as after the first shot she would have yelled.
