Great lower order batting by the Proteas, brilliant knock by Robbin Peterson – GAME ON!
326 all out, trail by 12
SA got 326 All Out, last batsman to go was Robin Peterson on 84 runs
SA have taken 2 quick Pakistani wickets, Pakistan now 16 / 2 after 6 overs
Pakistan 55 / 3 after 24 overs, a lead of 67 runs
Match is still delicately poised at the moment
For anyone interested, the Aviva Premiership game curently being shown on SS 1 between Saracens and Exeter at sarries’ new ground the Allianz Park is being played on an ARTIFICIAL surface.
It looks stupendous and no cut up at all.
Will be interesting to see the exact make-up of the turf.
35 @ Scrumdown:
The pitch does look pretty good and very natural…
I wonder what the lifespan is of such a pitch
36 @ grootblousmile:
I’m very interested in the synthetic make-up.
The “old style” astroturf would most likely give bad grass burns, as would the type used on all weather hockey pitches.
I’ll try to google iy and see what comes up.
I’ve heard the Taffy Bastids want to use it at the Millenium Stadium as well but need permission from the IRB first.
Fark, Pakistan leads by more than 100 already..
Pakistan 90 / 3
@ grootblousmile:
Right, so basically there are 2 generally accepted alternatives.
The first is a thick pile (generally ±35mm) polyethylene or polypropylene plastic “turf” with rubber inserts to offer a greater “give” and feel like normal turf.
The second is a hybrid combination of natural grass strengthened and augmented by plastic turf.
Life span of the full plastic pitch is aestimated at approaximately 10 years.
As far as I can gather none of thes types of pitches are approved for international matches, but I can see that if the surface at Sarries’ new ground proves to be successful it could well bring about change in that regard.
Pakistan 100 / 3 at Stumps on Day 3
39 @ Scrumdown:
Interesting!
Brilliant see Pakistan now 148/5, centurion from first innings Ashad Afriq out to Philander, seems to have been a bit of an unlucky dismissal for him, but hey they all count. Pakistan lead is now 160 runs, so will need to take more wickets quickly to avoid it building too much as it may not be easy facing Ajmal again.
Pakistan 152 / 5 after 64.2 overs
Make that 152 / 6 after 65 overs…
Whoopie!
… and Philander strikes yet again!
Pakistan 152 / 7 after 65.1 overs
No, make that 152 / 8… hehehe
Philanders now on fire!
Philander now on a hat trick ball…
Arghhh, no hat trick…
Pakistan suffering now, that’s for sure.
Now we need to wrap up the tail!
Looking good, hope they get these remaining wickets soon to try and keep the lead below 200. Tanvir Ahmed got 44 in first innings and Ajmal was not out on 21 off 61 balls so this pair seems to have the ability to hang around…hopefully not too long today.
Pakistan falling apart faster than that meteor in Russia
Fantastic fight back from SA
159 / 9
Track is turning like a washing machine. That pakistanI javelin thrower will enjoy it
Well done SA bowlers – getting Pakistan all out for 169
Target 182 – an interesting chase awaits on a turning wicket with maestro Ajmal probably being brought into the attack very early on, wonder if he may even open the bowling?
i almost want to stay out of this, worried i can swing our luck. Naaaaaahhhh i dont have that magic , go Proteas go
Pakistan 338 & 169
South Africa 326 & 85/2 (21.0 ov)
South Africa require another 97 runs with 8 wickets remaining
