Cops quiz Oscar Pistorius over shooting

Pretoria – Police are investigating a case of murder after a woman was shot dead at a Pretoria house in the early hours of Thursday morning.

According to Beeld, paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius was being questioned at Silverwoods Country Estate in connection with the shooting. He is expected to appear in Pretoria Magistrate’s court later on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Katlego Mogale told eNCA that she could not confirm the man’s identity until he appears in court.

She added that a 9mm pistol was recovered from the scene and a case of murder is being investigated. The woman was apparently shot four times.

Police are still busy with preliminary investigations on the scene, and statements are being taken from neighbours.

Paramedics were called to the house after the shooting and declared the woman dead at the scene.

Graeme Smith has won the toss and South Africa will bowl first. “I’ve played with many fantastic people who have helped me along the way, ” says Smith, who’s captaining South Africa in his 100th Test. South Africa are unchanged.

Durban – There are plenty rumours floating around that Western Province rugby could lose Luke Watson and Jean de Villiers to overseas clubs.

Sport24 recently revealed that the Irishl team, Munster, was prepared to lure De Villiers with a substantial offer.

The Springbok inside centre himself said at the time he would make a decision about his future after the British and Irish Lions Test series.

However, informed sources told Sport24 that it was certain that De Villiers would join Munster in 2010. “Jean is gone,” Sport24 was told.

Philander to Nasir Jamshed, no run, Dropped by du Plessis in the gully! That was regulation, pokes at one that moves away and it dips to gully, the fielder falls forward and spills it

    7.3

Philander to Nasir Jamshed, OUT, that drop didn’t cost much did it? Jamshed fails to make use of the life, this was pitched up and moving away, he was forward for the drive, thick outside edge to the keeper and Philander gets another batsman with his stock delivery that hones in on the off stump

    Nasir Jamshed c †de Villiers b Philander 3 (31m 23b 0x4 0x6) SR: 13.04
    Pakistan 10/1 Mohammad Hafeez 7* (22b) VD Philander 3.3-1-4-1

    11.1

Steyn to Mohammad Hafeez, OUT, strikes first ball in his second spell! Typical Steyn delivery, lands on the off stump and thereabouts and moves away, has Hafeez prodding forward, doesn’t cover the line, thick outside edge low to first slip

    Mohammad Hafeez c Smith b Steyn 17 (50m 35b 1×4 0x6) SR: 48.57
    Pakistan 21/2 Azhar Ali 0* (9b) DW Steyn 4.1-2-6-1

    16.2

Morkel to Azhar Ali, OUT, loose drive! Quite unlike Azhar Ali, this was pitched up and holding it’s line, a touch wide outside off, Azhar was driving away from the body and the edge was taken by AB

    Azhar Ali c †de Villiers b Morkel 4 (44m 21b 0x4 0x6) SR: 19.04
    Pakistan 33/3 Younis Khan 8* (19b) M Morkel 4.2-2-11-1

    16.6

Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, OUT, caught at short leg! No doubt about that one, Morkel had set him up by bowling it short and Misbah was awkwardly fending them off, this was directed on the body, tried to fend it to the on side, hits his glove and lobs to Elgar at short leg. Hot Spot showed a mark on the handle, seems to be working fine today

A fine session for South Africa’s opening bowlers. Smith wanted to give his seamers best use of the conditions on the first morning and they delivered. Three of the four wickets were caught behind. Younis and Shafiq are virtually opening the innings. Batting has looked a bit easier in the last half hour at least, with the swing not as prodigious.

Friday’s Top 14 clash against Perpignan will see Toulouse manager Guy Novès be involved in his 1000th game for the French champions.

In what will be a significant milestone in any sport, the iconic coach will oversee his 741 st game as a member of the Toulouse staff having played 259 games for the club between 1975 and 1988, winning two French championships in 1985 and 1986.

The former international wing, who won seven caps for France, has been with the same club his entire carreer.

The 59-year-old is the most decorated coach in Europe having won 10 French titles and four European Cups with les Rouse et Noir.

In 2011, Novès was offered the French national job but turned it down, saying he was only prepared to work with people he trusted which meant depriving Toulouse of their coaching staff, a move he was unwilling to make.

South Africa in reply 65/2 with Amla 17 and du Plessis 3 the batsmen at moment, Smith out for 19 and Alviro Peterson 17, both wickets for spinner Ajmal, ominous stuff so early in SA innings

  • 20

SA 105/4, de Villiers on 3 and du Plessis 28 at the crease, Amla out for 25 and Kallis 3 both lbw to Ajmal, thats 3 lbw’s for Ajmal who has taken all 4 wickets

  • 21

Some controversy maybe with Kallis wicket, the online commentators think Kallis was given out caught behind, Kallis called for a review, on review there was no edge but he was then given out LBW as ball went straight on to pad and would have hit leg stump.

  • 22

Oh dear SA 110/5 du Plessis out for 28, caught at slip off Ajmal – 5 out of 5 wickets to fall for Ajmal!
