Interesting match-up between 2 sides which does not nearly feature their strongest combinations.
Are your SuperBru picks in for this game?
Also remember that Varsity Cup kicks off on Monday, so get those SuperBru picks in over the remainder of the weekend.

My bru picks are in as daft me thought this game was on Wednesday night, not sure why but I did. Put my picks in early as I normally do just to see Cheetahs have left out many of their top players. Had I known that would have had Lions for a win here.
Anyhow…… GO LIONS!
Brilliant a 5pm kick off, always enjoy the earlier start.
4 @ Puma:
I like the 17:05 starts as well, must just tell you it has been seering hot here the last few days, and I think by 17:05 it will still be bloody hot for rugby.
At least it should mean a bettr crowd for Ellis Park today… hopefully.
In fact, in winter I like the 15:00 starts even better…. as a rule I prefer day rugby to evening rugby, with the natural light just so much better than under lights.
Don’t know if anybody of you guys have noticed but I’ve incorporated and changed the coding of the SuperBru widgets on the righthand side, to also incorporate a scroll bar and thus make it better and easier to go directly to our SuperBru Pools, me having exposed the “Go To Pool” and “Make Picks” buttons which were sometimes hidden before.
So, there’s your quick links to YOUR Pools and YOUR Picks…
5 @ grootblousmile:
I always enjoy day rugby to night rugby. Especially here in Durbs where the humidity climbs at night time so the ball becomes even more slippery.
I too prefer the 3pm kick off in the winter months. Now we are seeing 7pm kick offs in winter seems daft really, then it is all for tv I suppose.
Well I can tell you boet, we have had some belters here as well this week. The heat on Thursday nearly floored me, as my aircon packed up as well. Just gave up working in my study and was mostly in my pool. Had it fixed the next day. Jeepers I would not surive at my age with the humidity without air con. Was 37 here on Thursday and almost 100% humidity. It is the humidity that is a killer if you have it with the heat as well.
I remember Joburg always hot this time of year, then a year before I left there was plenty rain this time, like whole days of rain, which is unusual. In the year I left the same, remember it rain so much from Jan until the June. First time in June my garden was green there……….hahahaha. So ja, I know the heat there this time of year can be also tough, you just don’t have the humidity so that is a bonus there. We get both and that is tough.. 🙂
@ Puma:
Howdy Puma, you aren’t losing your mind the match was initially scheduled for the 23rd, but was later shifted to the 26th…
Pffffttt! Gooooooooooooooooooo Cheeeeeeeeeetahs! Lions see more into this game than the Cheetahs, who will only field their strongest available team versus the Bools in Pietersburg.
I might just go for another swim right now…. phweeew!
8 @ Cheetah4eva:
Thanks for clearing that up. Thought I had lost it, thought I read the date wrong or something, ……….. … Now I see I was right……
6 @ grootblousmile:
I noticed, good work gbs. Makes it easier.
Okay will be back when the rugby starts.
How did I get in 2nd place in the Super Bru thingy? Is that correct?
OK, you guys ready?
Game ON!
Cheetahs on attack early… 6m away
Lions intercept close to their own line and work it up to the 10m line
Lions penalty and this one is kickable
Marnitz Boshoff misses the 1st one left
Come on, talk to me… Oompie, Stormersboy
Lions now inside the Cheetahs 22, advantage being played
Advantage called over…. and the Lions lose the ball in contact
Free Kick Staat at the scrum
Cheetahs back on attack… inside Lions 22
Try JP Nel for the Cheetahs
Cheetahs 7 / 0 Lions
The 2 Cronje Twins for he Lions are sooooo average
Lions penalty, offside by JP Nel
Not in straight by the Lions at the lineout
Strong Lions scrum, putting the Cheetahs front row under pressure
