119 @ Bullscot:
Hello,
Yip… they cleaned them up quickly since the New Ball!
Grats boys, bring on the Paki’s
122 @ Gena_ZA:
Still the ODI’s to come, first one on 19 January.
Congratulations Proteas on the resounding victory!
In response to Puma’s comment earlier about posting pictures during matches etc I went and took one and put it up on the bottom of the Heineken Cup: Round Five article. My view as I’m posting today, what a nice sight to wake up to, just love the snow!
I was watching the post match interview with the sky commentators (I’ve been following it on VIPBox.TV on the internet) who have some time to kill, and they were discussing the England vs SA attack. What a laugh. They recon there isn’t that much between them and that the spinner quotient may shade it England’s way if the pitch is more of a spinner’s wicket.
the one commentator (obviously some impartial Englishman) even went so far as to say….”Steyn and Anderson….there’s not much between them….”
What a laugh. How soon they forget the 2-0 series win in England last year..
This bowling attack is by far the best in the world at the moment with even Robin Peterson looking the business, getting lots of turn and making telling contributions.
Worthy of their no 1 status.
For sure.
126 @ Stormersboy:
Hello Stormersboy, certainly agree with you there that Proteas are worthy no 1 team in tests at the moment. While Steyn is probably quite a bit better over time than Anderson, I was quite surprised to see that Anderson has quietly gone about his business taking loads of wickets last year – can’t remember how many wickets he took but it was a lot and I think even more than Steyn did. Also England have just come of a big test series win in England so I guess that’s played a part in the commentators comments. Proteas win in England I think was initially built on superior batting, then the bowlers played their part and I think the big difference is maybe not between the countries top bowler but the support where at the moment England have no match for Philander and Morkel, dip in form injuries etc not helped them. Spinner Swann wasn’t at his best for a while but he certainly lifted his game in India and then they also had Panesar playing so well over there too, so they possibly shade the spinning department although Peterson has done really well too now that he has finally been given a run at test level.
@ Bullscot:
Hey Bullscot.
Sure, Jimmy Anderson is certainly a good bowler, no disputing that. He’s a handy strike bowler but I think that if you polled 100 batmen currently playing test cricket and asked them who they would rather face I think that very few would prefer to face Steyn over Anderson.
I agree with you that it’s the trio of Steyn, Morkel and Vernon that make the SA attack special, not just one bowler. Robin has also gotten better with age, I’ve not always been a fan but he deserves a run, good in the field and handy with the bat.
England are also a good side, but not in SA’s class, at the moment anyway.
I do think though that England will pound New Zealand mercilessly too. They will win convincingly as well.
Well done to our Proteas on another test series win.
Bring on Pakistan now…. 🙂
126 @ Stormersboy:
Well trust it to be the English saying that, they must have short memories of the series win we had over them last year, also 2008. Beat them twice in a row playing on their turf. …… 🙂 (Sorry BB)
We do have the best bowling attack in world cricket right now and there is no disputing that.
119 @ Bullscot:
Keep those pics and next time put them up. We used to do that from time to time.
113 @ Bullscot:
hehehe… Time for a new phone then!
Its over already? Why not play a thrid test. Sure we can win it before the scheduled day 5 of this one
