Acting ARU chief executive Matt Carroll said that Pocock had agreed to terms until the end of 2015 after earlier this season leaving the Western Force to sign with Super Rugby rivals the Brumbies.

The 24-year-old Pocock has played 45 tests for Australia since making his debut against New Zealand in 2008. He has twice been nominated as IRB international player of the year.

After being named to captain the Wallabies for the first time, Australia lost to Scotland.

He then led the Wallabies to a 3-0 home series win over Wales before injuring his knee against the All Blacks in August which required surgery.
