OK, a bit of a disection….
Doc Jannie just to worn down by a long season.
Ruan Pienaar was diabollically bad.
Lambie had some good and some bad… more good than bad though.
Duane Vermeulen was a moster worker, Flo worked hard.
Crusty very solid at the back.
Juan de Jongh almost invisible.
Hougie had a better Test.
so die flyhalf pecking order is nou goose lambie jantjes,ek dink met n scrummie wat sy kant bring kan dit drie baie goeie bok flyhalfs word
Gurthro was not good.
Eben some good and some not so good, will have to watch out not to get niggled
Juandré Kruger solid.
Willem Alberts was hard… but faded.
Jean de Villiers solid in the tackle, not much else.
JP Pietersen, some good, one bad knock from a high ball.
328: yawn.
So, the Bokke end the year with 7 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses.
There Mallet is reiterating the poor reffing, England got away with murder, damn cheating welshman
@ grootblousmile:
make it 7 wins
@ grootblousmile:
Rudi under conditions we played well, yeay Gurthro was the one weak point, but have to say he started poorly but did atleast get better as the game went on
Behalwe vir Ruan, was almal OK. Ons kort nog ‘n skrummie. Lambie het goed gedoen onder omstandighede, behalwe ‘n swak skop hier en daar.
Brendan Venter, darem een vrystater wat bietjie sense praat. 😉

Mens kan sien hy is n kovsie man, goeie geleerdheid wat mens daar kry
One of the most frustrating seasons for a Bok supporter – only 2 matches comfortably won (one of them against Argentina at home), 2 draws (one against Argentina away and the other England at home)and 5 matches of poor wins that had fans knuiping until the end.
A good team is’nt born in one season. So, I shall remain patient.
Groente
342 @ superBul: goes to show how shit Scotland are, and HM’s tactics could only beat them by 10 points.
346: reg = ref
@ bdb:
Seriously one would swear we lost??
😆 actually mate, the Ref spoiled what could have been a good game, I actually thought we showed far more promise today.
Vic het iets genoem van FDP wat volgende jaar Hougie gaan help met sy skrumskakel spel, wat beteken dit, kom FDP terug ?
Evening all.
I assume that everyone has let off steam about how one eyed the ref was and how we were unfairly blown and all that, so it probably doesn’t bear repeating but seriously, this wasn’t a lot of fun to watch.
Many places still undecided in this Bok team:
Fullback: Crusty(dependable), Taute(untried), Frans, Lambie
Wings: Habs and JPP for sure Hougie (poor)
Centres: Frans, ??
Flyhalf: Goose, Lambie, Elton
Scrummie: Ruan (mixed bag), Hougie (mixed bag)
Fellas, let’s flop over to the Wales / All Blacks game article…
Bokke won… tour is undefeated… Bokke season is done and dusted.
Among forwards only Flo, EE, Bissie, Strauss pick themselves. Will be an interesting super rugby season!
Well its all been said by others, but I wonder when the ref got his degree from the Bryce Lawrence School Of Referees. He must have been a star pupil.
I think one of you guys who writes articles should do one on refs and their influence. What do we do about blatantly wrong decisions, do we start to use a referral system like cricket or what?
Morning all, as usual, not able to connect, so was unable to annoy GBS during the game, but some of my thoughts as follows:
First and foremost, when two teams play the same CRAP style of rugby, you are going to end up with a CRAP match – no matter how good or poor the ref is. That has to count as one of the worst spectacles in the game of rugby, and what a way to drive spectators away from the game. Brute force, smash, smash, kick kick, wrestle, penalty and bruises is just not going to sustain the popularity of the game. In my mind, England and South Africa are the worst exponents of this style of rugby, and when pitted against one another bring out a boring, flareless and a very long winded monologue, beaten only by one of Shakespeare’s sonnets in the classroom on a Friday afternoon.
The score reflects absolutely the state of the match, with perhaps a draw being the only being more reflective outcome. It is a style that is clearly outdated, flawed and should be assigned to the history books. Any team worth their salt is making a mockery of us (just look at one of the worst Aussie teams on record – proven by their near loss to Italy!), and it is only only teams like Ireland and Scotland, who are clearly just bad, that are going to ensure that we come home with a series victory under our belts.
Right, got that off my chest.
My second point is that watching the Boks in action yesterday – they were so clearly confused as to what they should be doing – that I think some of them will be suffering from serious brain haemorrhages right now. This is clearly coming through from the mighty Ostrich. The best example of what I am trying to say is Lambie (yes, wheat to some, chaff to others). Here is someone who comes in as fly-half at the beginning of the season, then told, the only place for him is at fullback. Only to be moved to flyhalh, after what can only be public pressure, clearly told what is expected of him when in that position, and finally, in the final match, the coach comes out in the press and tells the world that he has been told to play his natural game?????????? WTF!!! Just what IS the game plan?
By the way, I think Lambie had a very solid game yesterday, kicked generally well (couple of waywards), distributed well, and defended very well, except for one miss against Tuilagi when he made that break. Every now and then, though, you could clearly see that he was simply confused at times. He wasn’t the only one. Crusty has obviously been told to come into the line all of a sudden – a couple of times whilst under pressure, he too got confused (I thought he had a very good and solid game, generally, and bodes well for the f/b position in the future). Pienaar, was, well, clearly just confused. JdV tried gallantly – even passing the ball in the early stages of the game, but that dried up too – but his game plan must surely be retirement. No wonder our backline just goes backwards.
Clearly it is not the Boks that are like deer in headlights, it is Ostrich. I still think he is the right man for the job – at the moment with no other serious coaching contenders out there, but he must grow a spine for heavens sakes. He has tried to blockade himself into his little fortress by selecting assistants that he knows will unwaveringly answer his beck and call, not challenge him and defend him to the hilt. He has fallen foul of the press, clearly, and is trying to defend/chage his style of play. Some of his rantimngs to them are bordering on intellectual deVilliersisms. In my humble opinion, if he believes that his game plan is the right one, he must stick to it. He believed in no fetcher in the beginning. Though Steyn was the right choice for his game plan, he seems to be now assigned to the journalistic scrap heap. Grow some testacles, man.
Doc Jannie clearly needs a break, and a bit of a rebuild, Strauss played like a man who deserves more time in the squad. The locks and loosies bode well, Pat Cilliers was an inspiration. JdJ was pretty much left out to dry for most of the game, Hougie had a good game, and who was the other wing?
As for the Poms, well, they were just terrible.
Well done Boks. Like I said yesterday before the game. If we beat England by one point it will be enough for me. Just hate losing to England so a win is a win, whether by one or 20 points against them. Feel the same when we play the ABs will take a one point win against them too. Against other teams like Ireland and Scotland we should be putting them away by a lot more.
Sure the rugby was again not that great yesterday, but really this ref kept England in it. Twice the penalties against Jannie, when it should have been against the England looshead prop that was scrumming in on Jannie. So they got a free 6 points there I feel. Then there were quite a few lineouts that were skew by England that the ref let go. Just rewind back about 3 min after they get a penalty and go to 9 look at the lineout there, it was skew from England, the ref should have blown them for that. Therefore the play that went after might not have been, so doubt they would eventually have got that penalty awhile after. So I count 9 points there. So the try that was awarded to us I felt it was justice really.
Don’t like to gripe about a Ref, but he was dreadful and did keep England in the game giving them penalties against Jannie instead it should have been penalties awarded to us.
Just pleased our boys are coming home with 3 wins under their belts. No losses this nh tour.
Also watching Meyer in his speech after. One has to feel for him, he is so passioniate about the Boks. Sure he has got it wrong with the game plan, I do think he has learned plenty this year and will incorporate a better game plan that allows us to play with our backs more as well. I apologise for calling him a idiot, he just frustrated me so much with his kick everything game plan. Now think we must put our support behind him. After watching him with almost tears in his eyes after our Boks won by only one point, changed my mind about him. The man has huge paasion for our Boks and think he will have learned by his mistakes this year. So hoping to see us play a more espansive game next year if it allows for it at the time.
So like I done with Peter our last coach, in supporting him all the way, I will do the same for Heyneke from here on.

Ok trying to get the stats up here, and again they show exactly why I get annoyed with people running down players without actually looking at the facts. Surprise, Surprise I will use Lambie as an example
Again, this is not everyone saying this, but lets make the example,
1. In our backline, Lambie made twice as many tackles as any other back, the closest being JDV on 9
2. Rucks attended by the team? Only DV(8) attended more then lambie(7) ZK(7) and JPP(6)
Just that alone shows me who was doing hard work on the field of play , Lambie also had joint most the most runs in the team,
Most tackles missed in the team?? gurthro, attempted 8 missed 6 ouch
