Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer has stuck with his guns and pretty much as expected gone for continuity, in selecting the same team as last weekend accept for two changes to the starting fifteen and one on the bench.
The two changes made to the Starting 15 were pretty much as expected as earlier reports coming through from the Bok camp, that Gurthro Steenkamp was back to full fitness and Juan De Jong was a definite starter in the 13 jumper.
What is somewhat of a surprise is CJ replacing Pat Cilliers on the bench as Pat made an excellent impact when he took to the field last weekend in that dramatic turn around victory by the Springboks.
Springboks: 15 Zane Kirchner, 14 JP Pietersen, 13 Juan de Jongh, 12 Jean de Villiers (Captain), 11 Francois Hougaard, 10 Patrick Lambie, 9 Ruan Pienaar, 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Willem Alberts, 6 Francois Louw, 5 Juandré Kruger, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Adriaan Strauss, 1 Gurthrö Steenkamp
Replacements: 16 Schalk Brits, 17 Heinke van der Merwe, 18 CJ van der Linde, 19 Flip van der Merwe, 20 Marcell Coetzee, 21 Morné Steyn, 22 Jaco Taute, 23 Lwazi Mvovo.

@ Sharks_forever:

Piet you gotta Laugh, again i mention Voldy and in a flash the guests increase from 3 to 8 😆
Here is another one, easy one.
During the 1974 BIL here, how many flyhalves did we use, what were their names and which Province did they play for at the time?
Another easy one.
Which year was the first time Scotland beat the Boks and by how much?
How many times have we played Scotland and how many times have we beaten them? What was our biggest score that we beat them by.
All easy ones.

Correct Super. There was no settled fh in that tour.
J. Snyman played in the last two tests. He played for Freestate
Gerald Bosch in the 2nd test. He played for TVL
Dawie Snyman first test. He played for WP
Puma lets see if you know what made Gerald Bosch famous??
Okay let us go down memory lane some more. Will get some more questions here.
161 @ Sharks_forever:
Not sure what made him famous. Just know he was known as: Bosch the boot.
Which year did we win our first test series against the All Blacks in New Zealand?
Okay Pieta is in the air flying, so will leave these old rugga questions for when he is posting.
It did take New Zealand a very long time to win a test series here though. Their first came in only 1996. Though I do think the 1976 tour when the ABs were here could have been drawn, think the Refs of that tour were a bit biased towards us. Then us touring there their refs were biased towards them. The way it was those days. Jeez those were the years. Hope one day we get back to tours. Nothing can beat it. Imagine if we were having ABs here next year for 3 test tour, instead of the RC? For me it would be better, with mid-week games as well.
Pooms, Gerald Bosch was the first flyhalf to move away from the toe kicking and kicked with the instep of the foot as we still do today, same as in football
The lost era during the boycott times, just have a look who we played

Yes I do remember that, though never thought it made him famous, then it could have. Was always known as, Bosch the boot. Was a good kicker, not as good as Naas though.
Who puched Naas Botha in a Currie Cup game which led to Naas’s famous line “Cowboys don’t cry”??
Quick now, no google, the guy was a hero in the Cape, cars had bumper stickers with I love _____ _______ on them.
Another thing way back in the test tours we mostly played NZ 4 times. Now that was a TEST! Wish we could have those tours back. Stadiums would be full for sure.
168 @ superBul:
Those were the days Super. Miss the tests, also remember between the tests on Saturday was the mid-week games.
only 27 Tests in a period of 12 years
and boy did we enjoy watching the Springboks, whether we played the Pumas invitation team or not. We were starved.
@ superBul:
😆 yup super, it was like we could not get enough
170 @ Stormersboy:
Don’t remember just taking a wild guess. Rob Louw?
Where is Piet now flying in the air, he would enjoy this discussion.
173 @ superBul:
Those were the days Super. Now we have just far too much rugby to really appreciate it. Back then there would NEVER have been a empty seat in any stadium. Enjoyed the test tours.
@ Puma:
Nope, he wasn’t a WP player. From the Vrystaat back in the day.
🙂
I remember waking up at 04h00 in the morning, eating coffee and rusks as a kid waiting for the game to start.
Great memories.

Way back when I grew up if you never went to the game here had to listen to the commentary on the radio. We all sat in a huge circle chairs around the radio on the floor in the middle……….hahahaha. Was great.
Once we got tv in 1975 that changed. Though we only got a tv a few years later. Remember watching the “Flour Bomb Tour” to NZ in 81 on a black and white tv…..LOL. Also 4:30 am in the morning. Felt great to actually watch our boys over there instead to just listen to the radio what was happening. Though not nice to see them having to sleep in the stadium back then. Ag, those were the days though.

Okay tell me.lol
