News from the UK is that Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira is returning home due to his recurring heart problem.

After consultation with a cardiologist, it has been decided that it is in the best interests of Beast to return home and undergo more tests and therapy for his heart palpitations. He will undergo a minor operation upon his return to hopefully correct the issue.

Frans Malherbe will join the pringboks as replacement prop on tour.

Rugby-Talk wishes Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira all the best and a speedy recovery.

I dont think we need a replacement

As for Beast rest up fella, it has been a long seasonLoof forward to you playing good rugga in the 2013 S15

  • 2

Good call by the Dr and coaching staff. Never risk a players life for a game.

However, your supporters will miss you Beast. Get better buddy and see you with the Sharks next year.

  • 3

Van der Merwe is the best bet right now to start or Cilliers, but please not CJ he was not that great.

  • 4

    @ Puma:
Hiyas Pooms, heinke should start with Pat, I would have Jannie on the bench purely as Jannie also needs a bit of a break, he has been playing none stop.

  • 5

Beast replaced by Frans Malherbe 😯

    4 @ Sharks_forever:
Jeez took me for ages to get back in here. Just refreshed and waited about 5 min.

Yes agree, I would start with Heinke and Pat as well, give Jannie a rest. Though we must not take these Scots lightly they played well against the ABs yesterday. But yeah, Jannie needs a rest. We need him more against England next week.

So if that is a change the only other changes I would like to see are:

Coetzee in for Alberts, have said it many times here our loose are too slow even if they are good they just too slow.

Would like to see how Taute can go at fullback and Juan in at outside centre. Leave the rest of the team as was on Saturday. Though also not so sure about Kruger, could start with Flip. Alberts too could start there but Meyer only using him as a blindside flank

    Speedy recovery Beast!

Bokke front row should be OK… Gurthro should have recovered from his niggling injury and Heinke scrummed well when he came on, on Saturday.

CJ van der Linde is way, way, way past it, and should not make the team or bench again. Tighthead should be covered by Doc Jannie and Pat Cilliers… and that is enough.

Only 2 games left for the Bokke on tour.

Frans Malherbe & CJ van der Linde can just cover if the popo really hits the fan…. and then only on the bench.

Think he is just extra, we will still have Heinke, Pat and CJ. Think he will just be part of the 32 squad now.

  • 9

One moment HM shows forward thinking and makes sense. the next minute he leaves one totally flaborgasted?

  • 10

Okay now my posts are not coming up either…. 🙄

    Try again.

Gbs, I think that Steenkamp is still struggling a bit with that injury, read it somehere yesterday. Otherwise he would be the perfect replacement for Beast. Anyhow we are covered well there with Heinke is Steenkamp is still injured.

My Bokke side for Scotland would be:

    15 Jaco Taute
    14 JP Pietersen
    13 Juan de Jongh
    12 Jean de Villiers (reluctantly)
    11 Raymond Rhule
    10 Elton Jantjies
    9 Ruan Pienaar
8 Duane Vermeulen (tackled like a demon on SAT)
7 Willem Alberts (also tackled like a man possessed on SAT)
    6 Francois Louw
    5 Juandré Kruger
    4 Eben Etzebeth
    3 Pat Cilliers
    2 Adriaan Strauss
    1 Heinke van der Merwe

    Replacements:
    16 Schalk Britz
17 Gurthro Steenkamp (close tussle between him and Heinke to start)
18 Jannie du Plessis (having a bit of a rest on the bench after a long season)
    19 Flip van der Merwe
20 Arno Botha / Marcell Coetzee
    21 Jano Vermaak
    22 Patrick Lambie
    23 Zane Kirchner

    9 @ Sharks_forever:
hahahahaha. What was that saying again? Meyer is like a box of chocolates you don’t know what you gonna get! Worry Happy-Grin

  • 13

6: “Leave the rest of the team as was on Saturday.”

Puma, wat van nog een verandering – drop vir Lambie, hy het meer as genoeg kanse gehad, gee Morne weer ‘n kans ?

  • 14

Hougie is down on form… thinking too much of his Audi RS 8 and the string of girls interested in him.

So, give young Rhule a run against the weakest of the 4 Home Nations… he might just be a revelation come true.

Rhule and Juan de Jongh should give an attacking edge to an otherwise sterile backline.. so too should Elton Jantjies. Biggest single problem still lies at Inside Centre.

  • 15

    11 @ grootblousmile:
Don’t think Rhule will be there. Go read the Beeld. Meyer says Rhule needs to improve his kicking first… 🙄 I kid you not!!!!!!!! Pondering He will ruin this talented youngster as well. If you can’t kick you don’t fit into his team and plans. 🙄

Did you not see the ABs yesterday? I hope Meyer took a very good look, we need to start playing with more skills and let our speedsters do their thing not damn go learn to kick. Sad

  • 16

Lambie and Elton Jantjies would have to fight it out for the flyhalf berth against England.. and one could only measure them if the one starts and the other is on the bench and getting a decent stint as replacement in the Scotland game.

  • 17

    15 @ Puma:
I said that would be MY Bokke side for Saturday.

  • 18

    8 Duane Vermeulen
    7 Arno Botha
    6 Francois Louw
    5 Juandré Kruger
    4 Flip van der Merwe
    3 Pat Cilliers
    2 Chiliboy Ralapele (k)
    1 Gurthro Steenkamp

    Replacements:
    16 Strauss
    17 Heinke
    18 Jannie

Was watching the French game this morning, they too seem to be way ahead of us. Seems so many teams have approched ball in hand and a off-loading game. We have to wake up otherwise will be left behind with the kicking game.

  • 21

    19 @ Sharks_forever:
Too many changes… no continuity in positions… not in a million years

  • 22

    17 @ grootblousmile:
I would love to see Rhule in the team he is gonna be a super star if left to play like he does with the Cheetahs. However, for the Boks if he has been told to improve his kicking game, doubt he will be starting and I really think that is a pity. Though we must not take the Scots for granted they beat us the last time and the time before they almost beat us as well.

  • 23

I think our forwards are nearly sorted out… the grunt was there in the second half… and the Bokke forwards have consistently done well enough in the last 4 or 5 Tests.

Therefore I would not make too many forwards changes… it’s the backline which worries me, no end.

  • 24

19: Alberts op slot .. net as sy kicking game goed genoeg is ?

  • 25

  • 26

23 @ grootblousmile:I would like to see a bit more pace in the loosies…………..backline is / was pretty average.

  • 27

    22 @ Puma:
Ball-in-hand rugby saved us in the 2nd Half on Saturday… and playing in the right areas of the pitch in the 2nd half too.

First half was dismal, ill-diciplined… and generally a cock-up.

… and of course we had that pedantic cheating fool to ref us… Barnes

  • 28

    @ bdb:
why not play this side, I am sure it will make you extremely happy 😉

    15 Zane
    14 Mapoe
    13 JDJ
    12 JDV
    11 Rhule
    10 Morne
    09 Hougaard
    08 Botha
    07 Vermeulen
    06 Flouw
    05 Jandre
    04 Flip
    03 CIlliers
    02 Chili
    01 Heinke

    16 Strauss
    17 Gurthro
    18 Malherbe
    19 Etzebeth
    20 Potgieter
    21 Vermaak
    22 Jantjies
    23 Taute

  • 29

    @ grootblousmile:

I put that team for a reason 😉

  • 30

    26 @ Loosehead:
That’s why I would bring in Arno Botha on the bench…

Loosies as is and as a combo quite balanced in my view… Alberts maybe a yard or 3 slow. Duane Vermeulen was a rock in the tackle area on Saturday… and he manages to slow opposition ball quite effectively at No 8.
