Springbok utility back Jaco Taute says he would like to be considered at fullback when he plays for the Stormers in next year’s Super Rugby competition.

Taute’s loan agreement from the Lions was made official on Wednesday, with the 21-year-old set to return to the Johannesburg side after the Super competition.

However, he indicated could decide to extend his stay in Cape Town.

“My contract with the Lions expires next season. So I could stay on with the Stormers if I wanted to. But we’ll see how things go in 2013,” he said.

Despite featuring at outside centre for the Springboks recently, he told Die Burger’s website he’d like to fight for the Stormers’ No 15 jersey next year.

“I don’t have a fixed position, but would really like to be considered at fullback. Obviously I’d also play centre if required. My strong point at fullback is my attacking game. I can also play a tactical game because I mainly played flyhalf at school.”

Taute will fight it out with Gio Aplon and Joe Pietersen for the No 15 jersey at the Stormers.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that Taute’s team-mate at the Lions and Boks, Elton Jantjies, now looks certain to join him in the Cape. Jantjies is also expected to sign a loan agreement.
