Jaco Taute, Lions and Springbok centre and fullback has penned his deal with the Stormers on loan from the Golden Lions Rugby Union, for Super Rugby 2013.

According to Jaco Taute he is looking forward to and is exited to the challenge, considering the Stormers a worldclass Super Rugby Franchise, where he hopes to make a valuable contribution in 2013.

The loan agreement of course follows the fact that the MTN Lions Super Rugby franchise has been relegated from Super Rugby for 2013 in favour of the Southern Kings from the East Coast of South Africa.

The deal should see Jaco returning to the MTN Lions in time for the planned Promotion / Relegation games between South Africa’s last placed Super Rugby Franchise in 2013 and the MTN Lions, that is if the South African rugby Union does not shift the goal posts and decides not to hold Promotion / Relegation games.

Nothing is certain as far as SARU is concerned in South African Rugby, a blight on how things are generally run in South African Rugby as a whole.

Jaco Taute’s contract with the Golden Lions Rugby Union comes to an end at the end of 2013 and he has already indicated that he might make a move to Western Province and the Stormers a permanent move if everything works out for him at the Stormers in 2013.

Other players also signing or expected to sign similar loan deals is Franco van der Merwe (Sharks), Elton Jantjies (Stormers), Lionel Mapoe (Bulls) and it is likely that more players will go this route in 2013.

Michael Rhodes and Patrick Celliers have already penned permanent deals with Western Province Rugby Union.

Is this guy as good as what he is made out to be?

    1 @ Loosehead:
He looked good while he played fb for Lions. At outside centre for the Boks he was dreadful. Now think Coetzee at the Lions is showing to be even a better fb than Taute.

Think we can only really judge him next year after playing for Stormers in Super Rugby.

    @ Loosehead:
Far better at 15 than in the midfield. He provides great defence at FB, coupled with great attacking instincts, a boot that nearly rivals FS’s. He would be much better at FB for the Boks than the Nicknacks Man.
