What about the Pumas? The first time in this comp and they are most definitely not laying down for any team. Great to have them in this tourney. Also their supporters a brilliant, with their singing the whole game long.
Stroooong Pumas scrum….. penalty Pumas!
Come now Pumas!
Come on Pumas.
Pumas need another penalty. Kommaan Pumas!
Wallabies scrum penalty
@ Puma:
Your namesakes have been marvelous! A great and worthy addition to the Competition.
Wallabies penalty and a chance at goal…. bit far out
Beale slots it
Wallabies 23 / 19 Pumas
Come on Pumas, you need a try….. badly!
Game over
Why can’t HM take a leaf out of Robbie Dean’s book. Beale has been a star for the Wobblies in the past, but when he lost form he has been dropped from the team or dropped to the bench!
Final Score: Wallabies 23 / 19 Pumas
Wallabies go past the Bokke on the Log
2 Weeks from now at Loftus will be interesting indeed
Well done Wallabies, but great effort Puma’s. This team has a great heart.
@ grootblousmile:
Darnit! That point we missed against the ABs due to that other son of yours that shall not be named, may just cost us second place in the RC this year!
Ostrich needs to come out and admit he was wrong in 3 of his comments.
1. There are only 2 types of rugby. Winning rugby and losing rugby. by default, you cannot build a team if you are not prepared to lose.
2. He can coach Steyn back into form, and,
3. There is no plan ‘B’
If he can do that, we are back on track.
@ Just For Kicks:
Agreed!
@ Just For Kicks:
Another is That he is a coach not a selector.
A few changes in Bokke personnel needed..
Brussow must replace Jacques Potgieter in the broader squad…. and be on the bench
Dean Greyling must just go back to the Bulls
Sarel Pretorius must replace Jano Vermaak in the broader squad
In the starting lineup, I’d replace Pienaar with Super Sarel, Morné Steyn with Johan Goosen, Zane Kirchner with Pat Lambie.
On the bench I would replace Liebenberg with Burden, Greyling with Pat Cilliers, Andries Bekker with Eben Etzebeth… and maybe Marcell Coetzee with Heinrich Brussow (pity Marcell’s been good)
170 @ grootblousmile:Agree with all that, as with previous thread, would just add Taute – or another centre to that list. I think that if players are not in form, they must be dropped, and JdV is one of those too. I think it would be unfair to drop Kirchner, and not JdV, even though he is captain.
I wonder how Deans would have approached coaching the Boks, with all that talent on hand. Something the Aussie lack.
@ grootblousmile:
Don’t think that EE deserves to be dropped because suddenly Flip has had one good game. What about the other games when he has been ordinary? And when will JPP be ready to play. If he is ready, I would try Hougie again at scrummie because he may be different with the Goose inside him. Would replace Flo with Marcel if Brussouw is there. Flo should be a direct swap for Brussouw.
173 @ The_Young_Turk:
I personally think Eben Etzebeth is a bit green…. and there seemed to clearly be more grunt with Flip at No 4.
Would like to see what impact role the young Etzebeth could play off the bench.
Interesting times await….
I don’t think we’ll see many changes to the Bokke team… maybe 2 at most, Heyneke believes in consistency in selection.
Think Goosen will start at No 10… as one of the changes
166 @ The_Young_Turk:
In the words of Tiger Woods, second means nothing, it’s just the first loser.
@ Scrumdown:
That may be so in an individual sport like golf, but in a rugby competition like the RC, I would feel a lot better if we finished above the Wobblies than if we finished below them.
175 @ grootblousmile:
“Heyneke believes in consistency in selection”
A great philosophy when performing ok with the ODD POOR GAME, but when a player is so far off the mark for weeks in a row, what can justify “consistentcy in selection”?
@ grootblousmile:
What if Morne still starts?
179 @ The_Young_Turk:
I’d be surprised….
