Cheetahs scrumhalf Sarel Pretorius has confirmed that he will play for the central franchise in next year’s Super Rugby competition.

The 28-year-old played for Australian outfit, the Waratahs, in this year’s competition after joining as their marquee signing on a two-year deal to replace Wallaby Luke Burgess.
However, he fell out of favour at the union and finished the season as third-choice No 9 behind Grayson Hart and Brendan McKibbin.
Pretorius, currently playing for the Free State Cheetahs in the Currie Cup, was initially due to return to Sydney ahead of next year’s Super season. However, the Herald Sun’s website reported on Monday that the Waratahs decided to release the scrumhalf from their squad.
Pretorius announced via his Twitter account that he’ll be staying in Bloemfontein.
“Happy to say, I am staying in bloemmies for next years Super Rugby season!” he tweeted.
Very good over from Morkel there, England only 2/0 after 1 over. They going to have to bowl both Morkels Steyn and Kallis for it all bar the 1 over which will need to be covered by spin, I think with a wet ball the spinner will struggle and can easily be hit for 4 or 6.
@ grootblousmile:
Hey, how was the Birthday? 🙂
30 @ JanMurrayBok:
Yeah I’m watching…. and Dale Steyn gets a wicket…
England 3 / 1 after 1.2 overs
Its good to see Morkel and Steyn starting best to let them bowl all their overs out and try and put England under so much pressure that there is too much for them to do with the last 5 overs, also get your best two bowlers completing their overs in case the game gets reduced further and they don’t get to come back to bowl their 2nd over.
33 @ grootblousmile:
Great stuff thats what I was talking about let the best bowlers restrict the runs and take the wickets, AB better let them both bowl 2 overs and not take them off to ‘save’ them for the end.
England 12 / 1 after 2 overs as England gets a 6
@ Blue Bird:
Hello Blue Bird how are you doing? Its BullScot here, changed my nic for the Boks and also the last few weeks for our very own Murray – Andy in the US Open, see he is playing in the final right now against Djokovic, and is 4-2 up in the 1st set. GO ANDY!
Ouch that spoilt what would have been a good over, is that the first 6 off the game, so much for me saying it would be easier to hit the spinner for a 6.
@ JanMurrayBok:
That nic threw me completley……
Murray’s finest hour was his Gold Medal!! I enjoyed that…..
How are you doing?
I see it says England need to be at 41/1 after 5 overs if the game ends then to win so going to take a few big overs from England to get near that
Right well this old man can’t hang around here any more need to get settled for the night as have early start tomorrow, cheers all.
England 19 / 1 after 3 overs
@ JanMurrayBok:
Have a good evening and a Lekker Slaap 🙂
OK, me out too
39 @ Blue Bird:
Just quickly answer before I head away then Blue Bird, funny you confused about the nick hope you understand it now, yes Murray did so well at the Olympics and sounds like that along with his Wimbledon performance both by getting to the final and his reaction after it has gained a few more fans countrywide and he is now more like “one of us”, no longer just that dour Scot 🙂 Hope he does well tonight. Doing good here thanks Blue Bird and how about you, hope all’s well your side. Must go now hope to catch up again soon.
@ JanMurrayBok:
I am no Murray fan, but you are right he nearly seemed like one of us!! 😉
OH YES GOOD MORNING ALL JUST UP TO SEE ANDY MURRAY HAS WON THE US OPEN!!!! Congratulations Andy. Was so keen for him to win even changed the nick for this US Open but as there was disapointment in 4 other Grand Slam finals just often wondered whether we dared hope for a win here from him, so chuffed this morning, its gonna be a good day
Just to put Murray’s win in perspective, it was 76 years since someone from Britain had won a Grand Slam tournament, last one to do it was Fred Perry in 1936. Must have been some game for Murray and hats off to all who were able to stay up and watch it all – Score for Murray was : 7-6 (12-10) 7-5 2-6 3-6 6-2 and it took four hours 54 minutes!
Some reaction from BBC’s Tom Fordyce: “Andy Murray’s nerve-mangling, history-making US Open triumph over Novak Djokovic was many things: one of the great finals of the modern era, a late-night thriller from the city that never sleeps, a breath-taking demonstration of physical strength and mental fortitude. It was also the perfect bookend to a few months that British sport can scarcely believe and will never forget.”
Oh yes I saw last night the cricket ended in a no result due to rain, match called off just after Albie Morkel got the wicket of Luke Wright, England ended on 29/2, Wright was caught by Albie’s brother, just 5 balls more and they would have had a result – with that score would have been a win to SA had they got to 5 overs unless some amazing batting happened from England in those last 5.
@ JanMurrayBok:
He’s had the game for a few years now, but seemed to lack that mental belief that characterizes the greats of the game. I think the Olympic Gold went a long way to getting that monkey off his back. Glad for him, the sport is better off with more grandslam winners competing each time. Hopefully he can kick on from here.
