Cheetahs scrumhalf Sarel Pretorius has confirmed that he will play for the central franchise in next year’s Super Rugby competition.

The 28-year-old played for Australian outfit, the Waratahs, in this year’s competition after joining as their marquee signing on a two-year deal to replace Wallaby Luke Burgess.
However, he fell out of favour at the union and finished the season as third-choice No 9 behind Grayson Hart and Brendan McKibbin.
Pretorius, currently playing for the Free State Cheetahs in the Currie Cup, was initially due to return to Sydney ahead of next year’s Super season. However, the Herald Sun’s website reported on Monday that the Waratahs decided to release the scrumhalf from their squad.
Pretorius announced via his Twitter account that he’ll be staying in Bloemfontein.
“Happy to say, I am staying in bloemmies for next years Super Rugby season!” he tweeted.
great news indeed
Yup, agree, very good news.
He might be in for a Bok call up.
Hello all don’t forget the T20 starts at 7.30pm SA time
5 @ JanMurrayBok:
That is the 2ND T20 international between England and SA, sorry posted too quick. See it has been a busy day here, will try catch up later with all the goings on.
T20 start delayed due to a shower of rain
T20 kickoff back on target. Sally Broad won toss and has elected to bowl first
Faf out, Hash in
Levi and Amla to open
Finn to open bowling as the rain comes down again
And the players come off before the first ball is even bowled. Don’t get too excited, I think we’ll be lucky to see this match through to fruition.
Not looking too good in the cricket, game reduced to 9 overs each and SA 47/4 after 6 overs and 5 balls. Levi, AB, Albie Morkel and Dumminy all failed, Amla 32 not out off 20 balls, Kallis still not batted as Ontong in now.
To be fair to Duminy though it sounds like Swann took a brilliant catch in the deep to get him out
Eish 49/5 after 6 and a half overs, Ontong out for 1!
What a bizzare dismissal of Ontong sounds like he was caught out by Dernbach’s slower ball and ended up scooping ball to fine short leg then keeper Kieswetter scrambled round to catch. Very good over there by Dernbach only 3 runs off it and the wicket. SA 54/5 7 overs and 1 ball.
Ominous signs for SA as it looks like Dernbach should bowl last over, now 58/5 off 7 and a half overs good over this so far
There you go King Kallis gets a four, so far 6 runs off 3 balls, why did they bring him in so late
SA 68/5 after 8 – 18 runs off that Broad over
A game of 9 overs though would have thought they would want at least 90 runs to give themselves a good chance of winning.
Dernbach is bowling the 9th, only 1 run off 2 balls so far
Great a 4 off the 3rd ball now 73/5 off 8 and a half overs
9 runs off the last over, SA ends on 77/5, Kallis 13 off 7 and Amla 44 off 30 balls, what could score have been if Kallis came in at 3! That looks about 10 to 15 runs short of what they would have wanted at least.
22 @ JanMurrayBok:
Quite frankly, 9 overs a side is a total farce!
This is not cricket, not at all!
Rain around though so wonder if this one will be completed, think it can go down to 5 overs to be considered a match, don’t know how long the turn around time will be between innings, maybe SA saved by the rain?
Would be better if it totally rains out…. heavens must open up and stop this shit!
Ahh there we go England should start to bat in 5 minutes weather permitting
25 @ grootblousmile:
Big rain looks close GBS, just a case of how soon they get through the 5 overs, I think that is needed to have a result in the game, will they go out to play while rain is still light or do they not return at all?
27 @ JanMurrayBok:
This is just a large gamble…. this is not good
23 @ grootblousmile:
Oop sorry GBS saw your second comment first, yip 9 overs is a crazy hit and giggle scenario even worse if it gets reduced further. If the game is completed the SA bowlers will have to bowl well taking wickets regularly as England have some big hitters in Morgan, Wright Bairstow, Kieswetter and I think even Hales to mention a few.
Are you watching GBS, I’m just following on the net commentary and it says its raining quite steadily, surely they shouldn’t be playing then, too risky to the players so close to the T20 World Cup.
