Guess some players proved their critics wrong… or at least partially wrong.
Was it just me or did most of the penalties the Bokke conceded go against Sharkies players… well I suppose there was such a lot of them in the side… hehehe
Stem saam met Mallet die Mullet: gee Siesja Koalisie ‘n kans volgende week saam Alberts en Marcel (beste loosie gewees).
@ Gobble_BokJan:
Might just be able to fit it in, “Morne Steyn 10″….just as well his name is not Gary van Aswegen!
Well done Bokke.
Just disappointed we never got that 4th try. Think the ABs will get 5 points both times from the Argies. Hope next week we can get the 5 points though on their turf it will be tougher. Anyhow a win is a win.
@ grootblouBokJan:
Had the Pumas kicked those penalties, different story….
Shall we mosey on over to the Tjarks / Lions thread… in our Green and Gold garb?
@ Piet-Springbok-Jan:
What about “10 inches for Morne Steyn”
336 @ Piet-Springbok-Jan:
Yip they missed 3 penalties. We were okay today not that great have to sharpen up more I feel. The ABs will put this Arg side away both time with 5 points. I have no doubt about that. Just hope we get Bissie back. That knee looked done to me. Hope not though, if we lose him we lose a massive player. Strauss was good but he is not as good as Bissie.
Well done to Morne too. He had a good game today.
339 @ PumaSpringbokJan:
Adriaan Strauss had a massive game… very good
Okay off to watch the Sharks game. Back later. See we doing okay in the cricket have not lost another wicket since we lost our openers. Hope we don’t lose another wicket tonight.
Ya lets go watch tghe main game
230 @ grootblouBokJan:
Yes he was good but Bissie is better. At the end they were just taking the ball off of us. I got so damn frustrated just when we were in a good position to get a try they took the ball off of us. We need Bissie boeta. Strauss is very good just not as good as Bissie.
342 @ MaakieSharksAlmalBokkeseJan:
Anyhow we will get better I have no doubt. So we travel AGAIN tomorrow. Jeez the Shark players will be sooooooooooo MOEG from all the travel.
Okay back later.
Go Sharkies!
The media is reporting that Bismark will be out for the rest of the year, knee is damaged.
Not good. Strauss is a very able replacement but Id feel better having them both available.
Kolisi, JDJ and Jantjies will not tour to the Argentine,
Burden into the squad as replacement for Bismark.
Did anyone see the g-string worn by the Boks physio?
Nicely played Boks.
Did enough to win. Pumas should still hold their head up high. Not easy winning in SA.
Pumas let a few chances go by but saying that even SA let a few opportunities slide.
I dont know if Pumas played well or legally in the rucks but SA did lose a bit of their ball at the breakdowns.
Something that you would hope HM would notice and rectify.
And yes i saw the g-string on the Physio, you guys will do anything to put the opposition off. In fact i had to rewind back and pause just to make sure i was seeing correctly.
Anyway well done Boks, good start to the Championship.
@ Hurricane: Morning.
The Boks were good, not great.
Scrumed well, lineout was good. The forwards were good. Daniel was ok, Potgieter isn’t test quality.
Pienaar should start in place of Hougaard, who should replace Mvovo.
A few aimless kicks.
I laughed at Sideshow, he does a half Campese goose jump from about 10 meters away from the opponents, then runs directly into them.
Good, not great, thought Marcel Coetzee had a good game, very few people notice him, but look at tackles and breakdowns, the guy is always there. Good to see MS back on kicking form.
Damn I had Superbru prediction Boks by 20, so was pretty sure I had the Bonus point for closest score, then saw one guy had predicted 21 points, so no bonus for me. Any congratulations Snoek, good prediction However I am also in an Auto pool, so I thought OK, my 20 must win that, but nope, again one guy, this time a NZ guy, had 21. Ah well, close but no cigar.
For my 2 cents worth, I thought this was a good game from SA without a commanding one. Only the 4th match into the HM era, and after a very long and hard S15 season, the number of injuries, the tiredness of the Sharkboks and the short prep time, these are all contributors that will always make the early games in the competition seem a bit loose. This was also very evident in the Aus/NZ match where a number of balls were spilled, knock ons, etc. THis will improve, and I expect to see a much better performance in the next match.
Have changed this to a new post, so you can shoot me down, and correct my poor rugby knowledge!!!!
I think we did Ok, there were a few players who, lets just say, underwhelmed me yesterday.
Keegan was one of them, I wasn’t surprised when he got subbed.
Jaques Potgieter too, just didn’t make any real impact, Id prefer someone like Kanko or Vermeulen there.
Frans Steyn had an OK game on Defense, but got very few opportunities on attack, in fact you would be forgiven for thinking he wasn’t even there.
Hougaard was more effective at wing than Mvovo, and indeed more effective at wing than scrumhalf. I must say, hes one hell of an athlete and player though.
Morne was tight and its good to see him get back to his best. he does kick a lot of the possession away though. In fact he kicks pretty much whatever Hougaard doesn’t which is disappointing.
Jean lacked sharpness, he needs to improve.
Players that impressed me were Eben (hes going to be a legend if he stays fit) and Bekker, who really makes an impact when hes fully fit (although that didn’t last that long).
Jannie Dup has improved the past year or so, hes a lot more active on the field and makes a much bigger contribution outside of scrummaging than he used to.
Zane was solid, and his try was well deserved, although Mvovo was open and unmarked on his outside, and would have loved to have been able to score a try on his debut. In fact I now realise whey Zane plays at full back because he seems unable to pass the ball at all. he does the rest well though. That goose step is a bit doff though.
