Rugby-Talk started on 13 August 2009, and is therefore a naughty 3-Year old upstart, on Monday 13 August 2012.
It has not always been easy or simple, and hard work has gone into making this Rugby Community what it is.
A hearty word of congratulations to Rugby-talk, may the birthday presents come flying in like there is no tomorrow.
A heartfelt thanks to all Subscribers, new and old, all Authors past and present and everybody who has made a meaningful contribution to Rugby-Talk, taking it from strenght to strenght.
We are just shy of the magic 5 Million Page Impression mark at present, counted from 31 October 2009 only, a mark surely to be surpassed this week sometime, something we are eagerly looking forward to.
From time to time, some people have taken exception to the way things are done and run, yet I urge you to bear in mind the need to keep certain standards upheld and keeping it from the cesspool which other sites might represent. For the way things are done and run you won’t find any apologies or explanation bar to say that they are done with the best interests of the website at heart.
One can please some (most) people some (most) of the time, not all people all of the time.
5 438 Articles have seen the light, a total of 152 Main Pages and 26 Broader Categories appear on the Rugby-Talk website and a whopping 216 669 Comments make up the pages and Articles of this wonderful tool and community.
Rugby-Talk is read, respected and supported from all over the globe!
It has been a blast and may it continue to be so till kingdom come.
Regards,
@ bdb:

Happy Birthday RT. Always a pleasure to blog here.
Damn, realised last night in bed that the 13th is indeed only today, Monday… so I was 1 day premature in declaring our R-T Birthday!
Well, the upshot of it is, we’re having a 2-day birthday!
Hahaha
27 @ smallies72:
Sjoe… 30kg… dis ‘n klomp!
Jy smelt weg jong, BaieSmallies22!
28 @ bdb:

32 @ Puma:

Now you must just start Authoring Articles here….
15) Inzane
14) Hababa
13) Nog steeds Bekerloos na 10 jaar (k)
12) Mainsteyn
11) Mvolvo
10) My laaste kans
9) Tattoo-man
8) Old Spice
7) Ali
6) Mars Mellow
5) Langste senter in die wêreld
4) Ysterbet
3) Doc
2) Busstop (o/k)
1) Beauty and the Beast
16) Johan Sebastian Strauss (sorg vir die span se musiek)
17) Postman Pat
18) Krugermiljoene
19) Bos hare of Jack Daniel
20) Tiger Woods van rugby
21) Janneman/Bambie
@ bdb:
Langste senter innie wereld, bahahahaha!!!!
Jy is weer op jou snykant vandag, sien ek….
beast bissie jannie eben kruger keeeeeeeeeeegan coetzee nr8 alberts.hougie lambi steyn jean mvovo habbs zane
As the ‘new kid on the block’ just a question. I noticed you guys have a very good series of comments going during the matches, almost like a radio commentary, but in text.
How do you do that? I am glued to my TV set, and since my texting is very slow, I cant look away from the screen to take the time to type a text or I would miss something, but you guys all seem to be able to do it. Do you all use smartphones, and maybe watch the match streamed to your phone so you can text at the same time?
41 @ cat66:
Good question. I think most here watch and blog with their lap tops. This is the best site though to blog on while the live games are on. There are more bloggers too on match days here.
36 @ grootblousmile:
SL will be doing the Sharks Threads.
Congratulations. Top rugby site this. I still go to the old site for some articles, but very seldom post as they just descend into nonsense. At least here we always get decent rugby perspective and even if we get the moer in with each others opinions, it stay in the realms of decency, and even someone like me who is a die hard Lions supporter can have a voice.
33 @ grootblousmile:
So I was the only one that got it right then???? hehe
41 @ cat66:
Many Cats, no we follow the Game on TV (or often from the Press Box at the applicable Stadium), whilst we blog via our PC’s or Notebook PC.
Personally I have a massive 1.8m x 1.4m Big Screen TV rigged in my office at home, in addition to a very strong PC (running 2 x 23″ LG LED Screens), where I have Rugby-Talk open on one screen and next to it the Live TV match (via a TV Card) on the 2nd screen right next to the first one.
Whenever at Loftus, Coca-Cola Park, FNB Stadium or whichever Press Box I attend, I use my Notebook PC and a MTN 3G Dongle for Internet Connectivity.
But within context, I’m in the IT Industry, so have access to this kind of equipment. You want something, you ask me, and I’ll gladly supply.
No wonder my wife thinks I’m nuts…
One does’nt need much in the form of equipment though… a PC in the same room as your TV with internet connectivity… and Bob’s your Auntie, comment as you watch, at a speed which is comfortable to you.
PS! If Oompie Puma can do it, so can you… hahaha
45 @ Puma:
Almost….
40 @ bdb:
Lambie is Sharks 1st choice fh bdb. It was only when he got injured that Freddie started at fh. Then we we played the Stormers at the Tank Plum wanted both talented players on the field at once. With Lambie able to play fh he played him there for that game and Fred at 10. Then after the England tour Lambie was injured with his ankle so Fred started. Then he only had a half game at fb before the last game and was not really game ready. Again Plum wanting both Fred and Lambie on the field. BUT the first half of the S15 Lambie started and Fred was on the bench, like I said Lambie is our first choice fh and was until he got injured. He will be Sharks first choice fh next year too.
Now if Morne does not perform again against the Argies this Saturday I really do hope that Meyer gives Lambie a chance there the following week. Not even sure if Hougaard should be starting ahead of Pienaar either. Hougaard was not great during the England tour and nor much better for the Bulls after. I do rate Hougie though just not sure if he is a sh more a wing I think. Spies should be on the bench, but that will never happen. Alberts should start at 8. Should have been Kanko if he never signed to go and play in Japan.
Anyyhow we will beat Arg home and away it is when we play the big guns (Wallabies and All Blacks) that I do hope we know which players should be starting by then.
happy birthday Rugby-Talk
and
well done to everyone involved in launching it!!
..
49 @ ashley:
Hoe gaan dit, Oudste?
Busy, busy, busy?
@ Puma:
Ditto on Pienaar and Alberts.
Put Hougie on the bench as a back-up wing, he is not a scrummie (I have been saying that since he was a ‘babe in arms’)
We have a ‘European Rugby Player of the Year’ nominee and one of the best kickers in the game in Pienaar, he has played Free State Cravens with Morne, they know each other well….what’s the problem?
48 @ Puma:Lambie SHOULD be starting at flyhalf for the Boks this weekend, no debate. Steyn has had his chances, now give Lambie a go against a perceived weaker opposition to give him a chance.
Hey. 3 years already. Time flies when having fun.
Well done to GBS and ALL Rugby lovers who contribute, in whatever way, to the success of this site.
It’s always a pleasure to read and comment here, and when I can contribute with an article or two.
Thanks all.
With current injuries and with players in the squad this is the team i would select
