Today sees the start of the RBS 2012 Rugby Force weekend which is yet another good initiative by the Scottish Rugby Union to assist grassroots development of the game.  Current international players will be heading out to various rugby clubs across the country, from Stornoway in the Hebrides to Dumfries in the far south, to make a valuable contribution to the club game in a practical way.

The national selectors have named the SA Schools team for the Under-18 International Series opening match on Friday against France at the Hugenote High School in Wellington. The match starts at 17h00 while Six Nations rivals England and Wales will get the Series underway in the first match at 15:00.

Argentina coach Santiago Phelan has showed his hand when he named a 26-man squad that will travel to South Africa next week for the opening round of the inaugural Rugby Championship.

The Pumas face the Springboks at Newlands on August 18, as they joined the SANZAR giants of South Africa, New Zealand and Australia in the Southern Hemisphere showpiece.

Naka Drotske continues to blood young players and is clearly not afraid to back them, but his latest selection is sure to have caught most pundits unawares.

Naka has selected Junior Bok flyer, Raymond Rhule, on the wing. Rhule announced himself in spectacular fashion vs Argentina in the Junior Boks semi-final of the Junior World Championships, scoring two tries. He has carried that form into the Under 21 Currie Cup, and has obviously impressed Naka sufficiently for him to get the nod.

The team shows a number of changes, due to injuries and Bok commitments, but it is an exciting team regardless. Naka hasn’t announced his replacements yet, as he awaits the results of a scan on lock Andries Ferreira.

The Wallabies have named Drew Mitchell and Radike Samo and Under-20 captains Liam Gill and Jake Schatz in their 30 man squad for the upcoming Four Nation rugby Championship.

Mitchell and Samo both missed the June Tests, where Australia was upset by Scotland before clean sweeping the Six Nations champions 3-0 in the Wales Tour, but worked their way back into the Test arena.
