    52 Overs left… 200 runs required….

  • 572

England need 3.84 runs per over to win… 5 wickets in hand

  • 573

    571 @ grootblouBokJan:
Yip was just thinking that, still under 4 an over required, will these guys hang in for an hour and just sensibly accumulate runs and then go for it again?

  • 574

    Wickettttttttttt

Kallis with a great catch in the slips!

Trott gone… go on, trot off!

  • 576

    @ grootblouBokJan:

Pinnochio’s!!! Small white plastic tables with white/red checkered table cloths…
And the ‘flatties’, flat peri-peri chicken with some strange green, coloured ice cold Vino d’ Casa by the decanter to gulp it down…..
Yup, Pretoria on a Friday long lunch was lekka.

GBS, you still remember the “Ass-and-Belly” Hotel (Assembly), hehehehe!

  • 577

Back in a bit hope more wickets fall while out, dog needs a walk and its a gorgeous day out there sunny 21!

  • 578

Damn missed Steyn getting Trott. Just had to dash out and missed it. Think that should be us now in the pound seats…. 🙂 Well hope so.

  • 579

    576 @ Piet-Springbok-Jan:
Jeeez, don’t I remember Pinnochio’s in Paul Kruger Street, near Pretorius Street… on a Friday we would take a bunch of files… any files, hehehe… and say we were going to the “Companies Office”, but it was actually Pinnochio’s… for a flatty chicken and those bottles of home made porra sauce (bottle with a hole punched in the prop)… and some cheap booze… all the Appie Prokurowers used to gather there and eat and suip!

Oh, and I remember the Assembly Hotel… and if you wanted to fight or see some fights, you went to the Bell Hotel in Church Street…. hehehe

    @ grootblouBokJan:

‘Tant Bella’, oorkant die Uniegeboue, rof!…altyd daar, of by die New Union Hotel ontmoet, dan stap ons af Loftus toe.
Wat was daai lekker take-away in Sunnyside se naam nou weer, die ou van Ciprus oorkant Sunnyside Kafee/Golden Eagle Spur waarvan jy die lisensie of iets hanteer het? Beste viskoeke in Transvaal daar gekoop, altyd skoon en netjies gewees.

  • 581

    Broad with a 6… eish

    170 / 6, with 49 overs remaining…. England still in it with run-rate

  • 582

    580 @ Piet-Springbok-Jan:
    Pigly Wigly!

Ja, ek het die Trade Mark van die varkie geregistreer.

Ons het wild gekuier by die New Union Hotel, Tant Bella was bietjie rof en onbeskof

  • 583

    @ grootblouBokJan:
Pigly Wigly! Wonder of dit nog daar is…sjoe, ek was lank laas in daai wereld.

  • 584

    579 @ grootblouBokJan:
Didn’t know you guys worked together in the past, some good memories of P-town flooding back there thanks guys, remember as students we would go to New Union and Bell hotel, used to enjoy live music there but memories bit faded can’t remember if that was at the Bell or Union.

  • 585

    england 174/6
    still 172 to get!!
prior’s wicket and this could be all over before tea!!

  • 586

    @ Piet-Springbok-Jan:
Not far from that area, think it was in Arcadia just down from Union buildings and near a wee park there was a burger shack for a while that sold the biggest most delicious burgers out they were at least the size of a side plate if not bigger and they also did all sorts of fancy slap chips and sauces, was sorry when they closed down, do you remember this place, late eighties/early nineties?

  • 587

    @ grootblouBokJan:

Laird’s Kitchen in the Union, lekker steakhouse…ek het een aand amper op my moer gekry daar by Eugene se Ystergarde, wil die donners ons sommer uitjaag voor ons klaar geeet het omdat ‘maak gou, die Hoofleier is oppad, en die restaurant is geboek vir hom en die Leierskap’….moosa kabaal gewees!

  • 588

    583 @ Piet-Springbok-Jan:
    Hy’s nog daar!

    584 @ BullscotBokJan:
No, we did not work together or know each other back then, just frequented the same places… ons was maar net voëls van eenderse vere.

Pietman used to hear my Mazda RX 2 in the nights, not knowing it was me…. hehehe

As daai tjor kon praat….. sjoe, sjoe, sjoe!

  • 589

    588 @ grootblouBokJan:
Ahhh ok got it now, do you remember that burger shack I was referring to? By the way is Cool runnings in Hatfield still there?

  • 590

    568 @ grootblouBokJan:
Not so keen on the seafood Gbs but my better half is although not sure if that deurloop is a place one would like to go to these days or is it ok? Can remember that small Arcade from way back then.

  • 591

    587 @ Piet-Springbok-Jan:
Old Eugene and the Ystergarde rented some office space from the SA Perm (near Sunny Park), under the guise of a Travel Business… and used to march and tree aan in the street, and of course the Perm, mostly Jew controlled did not take kindly to it.

The firm I worked for got instructions to have them thrown out… and we got the Court Order… I was the one nominated to go throw Eugene out of his offices… hehehe and of course I delivered the Court Order. Man, was he upset with me… hahaha

  • 592

    @ BullscotBokJan:
Yes I know the place, not far from the Hamsin Hotel near the 224, the library park just across…
GBS, near that fancy restaurant with the flags, Pierneef or something….?

Bully, late 80’s the Barrel Inn in the west also came to light, lekker pub lunches and barmaids with hairy forearms met moosa borste (I think they were barmaids, hehehehe!)

  • 593

    585 @ jan_vaaljan_die_springboksupporter_jan_uhm_jan!:
Hello vaaljan Prior is a solid batsmen and the way Broad is going would not be too quick to rule out any of 3 results even at this late stage, Swann is also a guy who can throw the willow about so you’re right as long as Prior is there to keep things steady the others can try go for it, Anderson not the best batsmen but he has hung about for a while in the past when required.

  • 594

    589 @ BullscotBokJan:
No, I don’t remember the Burger place… and quite frankly would not know if Cool Runnings still exists.

  • 595

    592 @ Piet-Springbok-Jan:
Who remembers Billie’s Baked Potato, in the building near Sterland?

  • 596

    592 @ Piet-Springbok-Jan:
Happy-Grin gosh even more names from the past Hotel 224, didn’t know about the Barrel but we generally went into the city mainly for Jaquelines and there was some Bokjol place where we used to go sokkie, otherwise it was places like Sunnyside, Arcadia and of course further out to the east. One of the best jols was out on Lynwood Road – Farm Inn, dancing on the table made of sleepers and as we were poor students had to just do it with a bottle of Tassies in our hands, but am far more sensible now Thinking

  • 597

This one may go down to the wire, but to be honest if England do manage to chase down the target then they thoroughly deserve to win the test and save their no. 1 status.

  • 598

    @ grootblouBokJan:@595

    In Arcadia Center.

  • 599

    @ BullscotBokJan:
    @596
Farm Inn burned down, by the way.

  • 600

Let me start the fire, you guys are making me hungry, my old friend Martin from Gansbaai here for the weekend, we have Australian leg of lamb in the Weber on the patio, with some nice chilled homebrew (last week’s vintage!)
    Talk later.
