Wicket. De Villiers gone. Caught by Cook in the slips off Anderson for 27

  • 33

    @ Just For Kicks:
Electing to bat , that is poor. But umpiring mistakes and a very lively bowling performance made this not the worst ever , if they can reach 270 this would be a good recovery.

@ superBul:At the toss, the sun was shining, little chance of rain, both Captains said that they would bat if they won the toss, would perhaps have been better for Smith to have lost the toss! Agree, second test now with some very ‘iffy’ 3rd umpiring, and thats with the help of technology. I think we must hope for anything over 250. Final session underway

  • 36

England with only 4 bowlers and no Pietersen could be a proble in the latter stages of the match. Trott now into his 3rd over bowling, and that on day 1 when you have the Protea’s under the kosh. Some very strange decisions – as have been some of the field placings so far.

  • 37

Wicket. Rudolph bowled Swann for 42. Damn, thats given Swann his first wicket in almost 90 overs.

  • 38

Proteas looking a bit desperate at the moment. Rudolphs wicket was purely from taking his eye off the ball

    @ Spooony:
Spoony i know about freedom of speech but we dont use the name of the lord here in that way , nor do we use the name of the Muslim holy ones here. Please, stop using his name that way
You are far too intelligent to use the things you have to say with clear stir words.
I must maybe explain myself in Afrikaans , but i can promise you we all feel this way.

  • 40

We falling apart here. Think that whole debacle with KP has affected us and not England!

Hope these two can bat until close today. That just may give us a chance.

    Hang in there boys.

  • 41

@ PumaSpringbokJan:Apart from Finn on his home ground (and I would expect him to be at his best therefore), and the third umpire, I don’t think England have that much more to show for today.

  • 42

    34 @ Spooony:

Come on Spooony what is your problem? Gbs has asked you to not to use certain names here. So try and stick to some of the rules of this blog.

  • 43

    41 @ Just For Kicks:
Hope not. Certainly don’t want us to lose this test.

  • 44

    193/6

Now if we can hang on for at least 250 that would okay. Well not really okay but from where we were.

Remember a few years back when we played Oz in the Melbourne test we were a lot worse at this stage. I went to bed and thought by the time I woke up Oz would be batting and have a big score. Only to wake up and see Dale Steyn and Duminy still out there batting and we got over 400 that time. What a magnificent surprise that when we all woke up to them still batting………..haha. Was brilliant. So who knows these last batsmen just may do something special too.

    Just keep batting boys.

  • 45

@ PumaSpringbokJan:I remember that match well, Duminy has never really come back to the same form, so he owes us a big one, and this is it!!!! So lets hope he goes on and gets his name up on the board at Lords!

  • 47

Something to cheer about at last, as Duminy gets his 50 off a well worked 3 off his legs

  • 48

Graham Onions, who wasn’t selected in the final 11 for this match, climbed in his car at 11.00am this morning, drove through to Trent Bridge and proceeded to take 9/67 for his county side, Durham, and also ran out Fletcher, effectively taking all 10 wickets in the days play. And England insist on continuing with Sally Broad. Eish, I don’t know!!!!

  • 49

We must bat positive NOW, we could do with 15+ runs before the new ball

  • 50

Current partnership 70 runs, 21.2 overs, RR: 3.28

  • 51

    34 @ Spooony:
    Spoony,

I have removed the contents of comment 34.

You can be glad I’m in a good mood, after a good day with my son.

I’m not going to warn again, next occurence of misbehaviour, and you’ll either rest for 7 days or have to go find another blog to taunt.

I suggest you go read what our Rules & Blogging Policy is.. here’s the link: http://www.rugby-talk.com/about/rules-blogging-policy

We run a web site here where we are sensitive to matters which relate to religion or where people might differ drastically enough to cause mayhem on the blog. Seems as if you’re deliberately stirring the pot, and quite frankly, that’s not on. You’ve been asked to refrain, nicely, by SuperBul and Puma, and now you’ve been warned!

So, I guess the ball is in your court…

  • 52

New ball available at the end of this over

  • 53

    235/6 and new ball taken

  • 54

good first ball, we are now with our backs to the wall

  • 55

And even the wall is crumbling, hell this is a age old game and still a batsman with his eyes in did not take advantage of the dibly doblers. Take those bloody 20 runs served on a platter.

  • 56

Stupid, stupid wicket Duminy wafts at a ball so wide, mosts countries would have built a suspension bridge to get to it. Duminy Caught Prior, bowled Anderson for 61. Rubbish delivery, and rubbish shot.

  • 57

Starting to wonder if we’ll even make it to 250 now!

  • 58

Jeeez, luckily I missed all the kak cricket… flok!

Come on Ama-Blomme, show some grit and byt vas here… dammit man!

  • 59

I think England will face a new ball tonight, we look tentative
Cant see us survive the day

  • 60

Steyn not going to find this passage of play easy. Any lucky runs are a godsend!!!
