Brilliant. Another silver medal for team GB
Andy Murray just got to the tennis final.
Taylor finally goes after Morkel uproots the stump for 34 off 104 balls
Dis die Proteas hulle bewys ons reg vir 15 jaar al boom paaltjie
England. 351/5 trailing by 68. Both SA opening batsmen off injured.
With two days play left and it likely that some play will be lost to rain/darkness on both let me be bold and predict this one is heading for a draw.
So extras, at 41, is the second top scorer so far for England, just simply not disciplined enough from Protea bowlers.
Oh yes great run away victory in the 800m for Jessica Ennis there to seal heptathlon GOLD!!!
91 @ Spooony:
Yes Spooony thought he did very well to beat the world number 1 in the singles yesterday. Wonder how he will approach going for the gold medals at least for him they are over 3 sets and not 5 but still going to be hard for him, have seen Murray is due to play the singles game against Federrer before the mixed doubles game if the schedule is correct its going to be a short turn around so win or lose that one he will have to get his head sorted very soon after to go the other gold.
96 @ Bullscot:
Have to agree.
The last 2 hours last evening were difficult to watch.
Light rain falling at Headingly, so start could be delayed. Certainly now looks like this match is going to peetle out to a tame draw.
Play back on, SA digging in, but having a fairly torrid time from some excellent bowling from Anderson. Ball seaming, swinging and bouncing a bit.
……and rain again. SA 76/0
Jaques Rudolph gets his 50. Great time to find a bit of form going into the 3rd and final test. Means all our top order have got runs this series, and sets up a great chance to take the series and become No.1
I think that the rain is alternating between Elgin and Yorkshire today, just like the cricketers, every time I go outside to work, it starts raining or hailing. Players off again for rain. Bit of a farce. They go off for a bit of rain, as they reach the pavilion, rains stops again, umps. turn around, walk back out, only to see the rain start again – with the sun shining!!! So in they all go again. SA 90/0
Real lunch now, SA 123/1. Rudolph was out prior to lunch for 69. LBW Pieterson
If the tests is a draw do the CricketBoks go to #1?
Is Smith out yet?
Smith gone controversially for 52 off Pietersons bowling (how England are rueing not having Swann now) for 52. Replay shows clearly no nick
@ Loosehead:According to my calculations, they will be equal. SA (on 113 points) will gain 5 points = 118, and England (on 122 points) will lose 4 points also 118. We need to win to go ahead
@ Loosehead:Oh yes, and Smiths out
Amla gone now to an easy catch by Cook off….. you guessed it, Pieterson for 28 runs. SA 188/3
….and de Villiers goes. LBW off Sally for 44, DRS shows it was missing leg, but SA have used up both reviews. Duminy also gone LBW off Sally too without troubling scorers, so SA now 209/5.
Could we see some action at last? If England can get SA out quickly, they will almost be forced to go for the win. There are enough overs left, and they really need this win (53 overs left in days play). Should show for some fun 20/20 style cricket to finish the test. SA in turn really need to knuckle down now, and not lose any more wickets.
Hello some action in the cricket there, Broad two in two with Philander blocking the hat trick ball.
SA 209/5 with at least 52 overs remaining today, Duminy the last man out first ball. Lower order is going to have to perform with Kallis for about next 10 overs to make this one safe.
114 @ Bullscot:Haha, looks like we were thinking the same thing!
115 @ Just For Kicks:
Howzit JFK yes great minds think alike (or fools seldom differ) how you doing mate? Not long awake here and a bit surprised to see where the game is at, see the last two have been LBW, so wicket must be doing something and if its been raining the bowlers will be happy.
112 @ Just For Kicks:
Wondered why from reading about Smiths dismissal they didn’t review it but as you said with AB’s they had already used up their reviews, so thats two big wickets free for England, plus if you take the successful review (or was it reviews) when our Peterson was batting then it doesn’t seem as if the umpiring has been that good at times.
@ Bullscot: Pitch hasn’t really doing that much, considering, but it definitely is turning. If a part time spinner like KP can rip the ball, imagine what Swann would’ve/could’ve done. England would definitely have been it it. Having said that, England have just got another one. Getting exciting now
Last 10 overs at over 5 an over, you’d think they were trying to get a decent declaration target set…
Philander goes for 6 off Broads 3rd LBW
