Williams was understood to have paused his New Zealand Rugby career when he announced a move to Japan.
However after injuries to Richard Kahui and more recently Conrad Smith the All Blacks are in need of more depth in the mid-field and SBW says if he is released from Japan he will play for New Zealand.
All Blacks coach Steven Hansen says that they will select SBW if he is given clearance to play from his Panasonic club in Japan.
Sonny Bill Williams has revealed that he has already held talks with the All Black coach.
“He told me about their situation, and I said yeah of course I would love to if all things are right on the Japanese side and it’s worked out well,” said Williams.
Following Williams’ announcement that he will be leaving New Zealand Rugby there has been much debate in the country as to whether he should be selected as he would only be available for half of the Rugby Championship.
Williams says he is available but is not thinking about the All Blacks this week and is concentrating on the Super Rugby final this week with the Chiefs.
“You guys have made pretty big deal about it but you know for me its my heart and soul and mind and focus has definitely been with the Chiefs. one more week and then I’ll worry about that,” he told NewztalkZB
