@ grootblousmile:
Interesting question GBS, from a commercial viewpoint the money we pay the Royal Family looks vast, but the benefits are huge.
Tourists flock to the Royal Palaces, bringing millions of dollars/rands/Euros into our country.
The Royal family are no longer held up as the perfect family, they divorce, they too are as flawed as the rest of us, but they do serve our country well and The Queen is incredibly hard working as are the rest of her family.
She has said she would like us to join together in our towns and villages and celebrate and we are delighted to do this and the basically say ‘Cheers Your Majesty, well done on 60 years’!!
@ grootblousmile:
If you left your shores you might understand!! 😉
@ Puma:
You see Puma, you are a well travelled man…. You ‘Get It’ !! 🙂
121 @ Blue Bird:
Yip, I suppose it’s about National pride, and the Monarchy provides that in copious amounts…
… and you’re right, you guys make a lot in Royal Tourism….
Look, I’m not putting the Monarchy down, was just wondering what the viewpoint of the average Brit is on the matter.
2 Nd Half ON!
106@ grootblousmile:
The British Monarchy (and the rest of Europe for that matter) is a figurehead only and basically powerless.
On the otherhand, the trumped up little dictator to the East of South Africa, Mswati III is Africa’s last Absolute Monarch and does exactly what he wants in a country with 45% unemployment, about the same HIV rate and where 65% of those employed work directly for the state.
His country is slowly starving to death while he drives around in Maybach’s and a fleet of X5’s for his 14 wives, between the palaces he built to house them in.
What a toerag, but with him and Zuma being kin, SA will never say a fukcing word about it. Spineless git’s of a government.
Time to get off my soapbox and try do do some work. The freekin Captain is hammering away in my head and the deadline is getting nearer and nearer, and the Sharks are visiting the Coke Tin this afternoon. FFS!!!!!!!!
Late breakfast…..
Catch you later
113@ The_Young_Turk: Do you have the inside track to GH? Your insight is unparalleled, one wonders if you’re not getting a bit of help in your insight. Why do you love Henry so much?
@ Blue Bird:
Queen is popular and respected by most English, the rest of the royal family not so much.
126 @ Scrumdown:
You going to the Coke-Tin for us?
122@ Blue Bird:
GBS has to get special permission from local government to leave Brakpan, and if he wants to leave Ekhuruleni he has to deposit a bank guarantee with the treasury to make sure he goes back!
128@ bdb:If the Bulls lose, they’re useless
131@ grootblousmile:
If I meet my deadline. Otherwise I won’t even be able to watch on TV.
Varkin babalas is killing me as well!
You going up North?
132 @ Scrumdown:
Hey, I am the King of the Kingdom of Brakkenjanpan… and there’s a lot of work for me here, as Absolute Monarch….
132@ Scrumdown:I heard the rest of the country/world is paying Ekhuruleni to keep him there!
Tikorotuma in for his 2nd try… for the Chiefs
Chiefs waking up at last
113@ @ Just For Kicks:
Are you not aware of Henry’s godlike status?
Try Chiefs.
Come on Blues.
136 @ Just For Kicks:
I have a State Visit planned to your neck of the woods in a few weeks
Chiefs 27 / 20 Blues
127@ Blue Bird:
Cheers BB.
136@ Just For Kicks:
As the crow flies I live about 13 km’s from GBS, but it takes me an hour to drive there!
Go figure.
141@ grootblousmile:Hope it’s not a few weeks – We go on holiday on the 22nd, and will be gone for 3 weeks!
133: is die Saders useless omdat hul teen die Rebels verloor het ?
144@ Scrumdown:Hahaha, you must thank your lucky stars everyday!!!!!
123@ Blue Bird:
139@ The_Young_Turk:Like I said earlier, I am the one who feels godlike today, in fact, when I was taking a slash earlier, I could have sworn the urinal looked like Henry’s head!
145 @ Just For Kicks:
Oh fark…
Handbriekie’s doing a Mini MBA, with lectures in Cape Town every month… and this month it’s between 18 to 20 June (Monday to Wednesday), so I was thinking EXACTLY to extend it from 20 to 24 June…
Will have to comea week earlier… and just leave her in Cape Town for the Lectures…. if it fits in with her schedule.
